In a wet and noisy Downing Street, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak confirmed the rumours that had been swirling since early morning and called a general election for 4th July. Despite being far behind in the polls, Sunak said the Conservatives are the only party with a plan to maintain economic stability. Welcoming the election announcement, Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer said it was time to "stop the chaos" and vote for change.
