I recently ran into troubles with my Apogee Rosetta, I was convinced it had failed since it's of course fairly old. I was looking for an Apogee Support Address to find out if they would still support or fix this discontinued legacy piece of gear and I actually found a chat option and was very quickly transferred to a highly knowledgeable tech who seems to know the Rosetta by heart. 15 Minutes later my problems were solved, and no, the Rosetta had not failed. This is the best, quickest and most professional support I have ever encountered. Great support when you need it is something people may not consider when shopping for gear. He has hooked up the Mac Digital ADAT out to an Apogee Rosetta. He says that “what appears to be a cool setup is not, since I experience the occasional clicks and pops which clearly indicate clocking issues. I am not even sure how the Mac derives its Wordclock sync signal. I thought it would clock on the incoming ADAT. In this Pro Tools Expert Podcast Extra, Technical Editor James Ivey talks to Joey Sturgis of drum sample library and plug-in developers Drumforge and his own company Joey Sturgis Tones or JST.Joey starts by talking about his time back in high school as a drummer and how he started to write and develop plug-ins. First only working on VST for Cubase but then moving on to code for AU, RTAS and now AAX formats  Joey recounts some of his earliest recording experiences and how he would get help, advice and sometimes a harsh reality check from some of the more brutal online music production forumsJoey is one of the founder directors of drum sample library company Drumforge, which James believes to be ones of, if not the most natural sounding drum library available. They talk about the Drumforge ethos about how they create a new product. Working from a solutions perspective rather than that of a product. To say Joey keeps himself busy could be the understatement of the year, as along side his involvement with Drumforge and JST, Joey also now runs a training company called The Unstoppable Recording Machine and online tutorial website for rock and metal production called Nail The Mix.  Joey talks about some of his time management strategies and he extensive used of Google Drive. For a young man of 32, Joey has so far achieved a great deal in both his music production and music tech carriers and from what you will hear he has no plans for stopping anytime soon.

He will even listen to bleed on loose studio cans (when left on), on a wireless Bose mobile and HiFi at home and of course his car, which he bought largely because of the stock stereo it came with. We talked about ear buds too. Jason will always listen to mixes on buds... as he believes that the chances are his my clients may be giving notes back to him having listened on buds as well, not to mention millions of others.
