  • #166: Mike Long- Diesel Mike, 42 Hours, Roll The Dice
On Episode 166 I sit down with Mike Long. I had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know Mike better a few weeks back in an event that he and I participated in together. Mike is a former D2 Football Player who now works as a financial advisor for a large Wall St. firm. He's been doing CrossFit for 7 years now and has also done a little bit of Coaching as well.
Mike has gotten into some pretty badass endurance events over the years and we dive into some of those endeavours later on the show.
Mike claims to have the greatest garage gym in history, which, from what I hear he owns just about everything available on the Rogue website.
I think that you guys are going to really enjoy listening to Mike's story. He's a super cool dude and someone who is exactly what Up Before You is all about. I hope that all of you can take something positive away from this episode.
    Enjoy!

  • #165: Craig Niven- CrossFit Barrington, Family, A Life Lived For Others
On Episode 165 I sit down with Craig Niven. Craig is one of the owners at CrossFit Barrington and has a passion for sharing and teaching the CrossFit methodology and movements to others.
After all, his favorite quote is, "A life lived for others is a life worthwhile."
Outside of CrossFit and the gym, Craig's passions are his family, helping others, and laughing.
Some of Craig's greatest athletic achievements are winning the 600-yard dash in 3rd grade as a major underdog and when he farmer carried 600 lbs. for 50 ft.
This was a super fun conversation and it was awesome to have the opportunity to learn more about Craig! I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did!

  • #164: Friday Morning Thoughts- An Opportunity I Don't Take Lightly
These past couple of weeks have been incredible. There have been a ton of awesome things going on and opportunities that have sprouted from these as a result.
Today, I highlight a project that I have taken on recently without giving any real specifics away about it. I apologize for being so ambiguous about it all but, for now, that's how it has to be.
Let's just say it's been a lifelong dream of mine to take on a project like this and it is an incredible honor to do it with the person I'm doing it with.
A person I have an enormous amount of respect for and who impacts me a lot more than they probably even realize.
    Enjoy!

This week I begin to recap the 32 Hour Roll-The-Dice Event from this past weekend. I understand that this will be a process as I am still learning a lot about myself from the event. It truly was a life-changing experience in a lot of different ways. But, I have to start somewhere so today I talk about the three words that have been stuck in my mind since the event.
Confidence, Clarity, Impact. I discuss each word more in-depth during the episode.

On Episode 160 I sit down with Kelly Meckert. Kelly is a 3rd-grade teacher who absolutely loves what she does. Outside of teaching, you can find Kelly playing around with new recipes in the kitchen, exploring the outdoors, or coaching CrossFit.
Kelly started doing CrossFit during her senior year of high school in 2013 when her friend Lisa convinced her that it would be a good way to stay in shape between swimming and water polo season. And...IT WORKED! It improved Kelly's fitness so much that she couldn't stop!
Kelly eventually got into coaching Crossfit after being approached by the owners of CrossFit Barrington as they were interested in hiring a female coach. That motivated Kelly to go out and get her L1 and she is so happy that she did!
Kelly is now into her 3rd year as a coach and she loves being apart of the CrossFit community! It has had a huge impact on her personal health and fitness and it makes her so happy that she is able to share it with others!
