Our next guest on Protect and Serve is Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu QPM, the highest ranking ethnic minority police office in the United Kingdom and the metropolitan police service.
In 2016 he was awarded the Queens police medal for distinguished service. Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu, has been a prominent figure on British television over many years as he has lead the countries counter terrorism response as the senior national coordinator. Later being promoted to assistant commission, specialist operations. In the six years that he was in his post he, his collogues and other important government agencies disrupted 29 terrorism plots, responded to 12 terrorist attacks across Brittan and arrested, charged and convicted over 600 terrorists. The pressure that comes with such leadership is one that not many can cope with but this certainly does not apply to Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu QPM, who we are extremely privileged welcome to protect and serve.

This week we chat with former veteran affairs special agent Bruce Sackman. When veterans hospital patients on the road to recover start dying unexpectedly in increasing numbers its up to Bruce to find out why. His shocking discovery tears open the terrifying world of what goes on behind the bedside curtain when a killer medical practitioner like Harold Shipman in the uk or Dr Michael Swango in the us decides a patient must die.
In this episode we talk with Bruce about the dark and sinister world of medical serial killers, Dr's and nurses who murder the people who trust and rely on them for care. We cover everything from sinister motivations to the strategies these predators use to avoid detection sometimes for years. As well as why some hospitals seem to do very little about these people when issues are brought to their attention.
This is a truly fascinating and some what terrifying interview of a very important topic.

Police services around the world arm their police, some to every day officers, others to specialist units, like that of the Metropolitan Police's SO19 firearms unit. We ask these brave men and women to run at the most confronting, dangerous and terrifying threats to keep us safe. In doing so, these highly trained men and women make split second decisions to stop these threats, to prevent loss of life and serious injury.
In today's episode we speak with retired S019 officer and author of 'lethal force' Tony Long. In his career Tony fatally shot four people, all of whom were either committing serious offences, acts of violence with the use of firearms, deadly weapons or were suspected of being in possession of high powered firearms with the intent to kill or seriously hurt others.
Tony talks us through his career as the Metropolitan Police's most controversial marksman, these shootings as well as his ten year battle to clear his name following his last police shooting 100 days out from his retirement which saw him accused and arrested for murder.

My name is Oliver Laurence,
I spent over twelve years as a police officer serving in some of the harshest environments Australia has to offer, now working as a Senior Investigator -…
I'll chat with the men and women on the front line of events such as 9/11 to the investigation into Jimmy Saville, taking down the 'Teflon Don' John Gotti and even having to pull the trigger to stop a terrorist on a murderous rampage on the streets of London.
I’ll sit down with these brave men and women to hear their first-hand accounts of these events and how they got there.
Welcome to Protect and Serve
