As someone who herself was misdiagnosed with leukemia at the age of 25, Lyn is passionate about sharing with the world her message that just because a doctor has said an illness is "chronic" or "incurable," doesn't mean that it has to be a life-sentence and that Western Medicine isn't the only approach to healing.
Through her one-on-one work with clients over the past eight years, Lyn has helped hundreds of women to reclaim their lives and their health after a life-changing health diagnosis. In this episode, we're joined by Neil Firszt. Neil is an author, life coach, workshop presenter, public speaker, blogger, YouTube video creator guy, and founder of BeHigherBeings. "A few years ago, when I hit rock bottom with alcoholism, I made a promise to myself and the Universe that if I was ever able to free myself from the anxiety and addiction prison that I was in, that I would spend the rest of my life helping other people do the same."
BeHigherBeings is about lifting others up and sharing our unique and authentic gifts with the world instead of doubting that we even have gifts to give. It’s uncovering what has been hidden behind the narrative programmed in your mind, and being a space of support and love for who you really are. It’s learning to love your “inner child” and not identify with the "stories" running in your mind. It's about running towards your awakening and freeing yourself from the anxiety that can keep us addicted to our own struggles, making our life situations, relationships, and achieving goals seem much more difficult than they really are.

In this episode, we're joined by Michael Apostol. Prior to beginning his undergraduate studies, Michael decided that he wanted to pursue a career in therapy, and realized that he needed to both major in psychology and gain research experience while completing his degree. Because of his interests in therapy, he focused on taking clinical psychology coursework and familiarizing himself with clinical practice. After reflecting on his clinical internship and coursework, he realized that clinical practice wasn't for him. Through this process, however, Michael discovered something that he truly loved: research. From there, he dived into social, cognitive, and clinical research – he explored a range of topics including fighting in professional hockey, moral psychology, the psychology of religion, and the Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Michael's research interests are in moral psychology, judgments, decision-making, and reasoning. He wants to focus on moral judgments and decision-making because he thinks that by understanding why and how people decide that some things are right while others are wrong is the key to reducing unnecessary suffering, eliminating prejudice, and promoting human well-being. Michael's long-term goal is an academic career where he hopes to conduct research, teach, and contribute to a university community. For now, his goal is to work in a research setting before applying to PhD programs in social or cognitive psychology.
