Purple FTW! Podcast

Unfortunately the offseason got here two weeks early for the Minnesota Fightin' Vikings, so free agency and the NFL Draft are in full focus. For an intense look at the latter, we brought in Scott Wright (@DraftCountdown), owner and purveyor of draftcountdown.com to talk about his recent trip to the Senior Bowl, what the Vikings needs are in the draft, and who are some big names that fans of the Purple should familiarize themselves with as the draft process begins for 2018.

Alex "The Human Median" Smith's name has been bandied about Minnesota Fightin' Vikings circles as a potential trade target to be the Purple's signal caller in 2018. We kick around the costs and benefits of bringing in the dude drafter #1 overall ahead of Aaron Rodgers. Plus Darren "Doogie" Wolfson (@DWolfsonKSTP) stops in to talk about the latest in offensive coordinator rumors, his thoughts on the quarterback spot, and his Super Bowl week media duties.

The perpetual cycle of the Minnesota Fightin' Vikings trying to find a Franchise Quarterback continues heading into the 2018 offseason. Teddy Bridgewater, Sam Bradford, and Case Keenum could all be in the mix. Or do the Vikes go all-in in free agency or the draft? Our guy Jordan Reid (@JReidDraftScout) stopped by to speculate with us as he spent the week keenly watching the Senior Bowl, including one sleeper QB prospect he LOVES, and three positional need names to keep an eye on. Plus Joe Duffy (@Offshoreinsider) drops some knowledge on the fun Super Bowl prop bets that he likes.

We should be talking about home Super Bowl preparations for the Minnesota Fightin' Vikings, but we're not. Because we cannot have nice things as Vikings Fans. We drown our sorrows with Josh Pelto on Vikes Over Beers as we shake our damn heads about THAT NFC Championship Game performance and look ahead to yet another offseason. Plus Darren "Doogie" Wolfson (@DWolfsonKSTP) of The Scoop Podcast stops in to talk about quarterback rumors, injuries, and drops a potential darkhorse offensive coordinator name that almost made me flip a table.

The 2017 season didn't have the storybook ending that Minnesota Fightin' Vikings fans were hoping for, but time doesn't stop. On to the offseason as coaches are shuffling, pending free agents are leaving, the quarterback position is as murky as ever, and there are legit concerns about the Vikes being able to replicate their 13-3 campaign. To help us sort through the mess is friend of the program Declan Goff (@DexTweets). We talked to Dex about The Minneapolis Miracle, The Philly Disaster, and what's ahead this offseason for the Purple.

Well that depressing. The Minnesota Fightin' Vikings got whacked in the NFC Championship Game 38-7 by the horse-punching Philadelphia Eagles Sunday night. Let's pass the blame bucket around! Surprisingly Mike Zimmer and that record setting Zimmer Hellfire Defense is on top of the list.

The game is near. Let's go the Super Bowl, shall we? For a look at the sports betting angles of the NFC Championship Game, Joe Duffy (@OffshoreInsider) stops by as we chat about the Vikings being road favorites, the low over/under of 38.5, and projected lines of the two potential matchups for the Vikes if they do advance. Plus for one last look at the Eagles, John Barchard (@JohnBarchard) of Bleeding Green Nation Radio and Sports Radio WIP in Philadelphia stops by to chop up the Foles/Keenum showdown and grovel about each other's defenses.

Another day closer to what seems like destiny for the Minnesota Fightin' Vikings. For more intel on the low energy Philadelphia Eagles, we enlisted friend of the program Alexis Chassen (@LovelyBuckeye) of Bleeding Green Nation to chat about underrated Philly defense, faith in Nick Foles, and why Doug Pederson has won over the fanbase. Plus Darren "Doogie" Wolfson of The Scoop Podcast pops in to discuss an illness keeping him away from covering the Minneapolis Miracle, concerns going in to Philadelphia, and if this season is fate. Also we open talk about making to Episode 500 and open the Voicemail!

The Philadelphia Eagles are the final level boss standing between the Minnesota Fightin' Vikings and becoming the first team to ever play the Super Bowl in their home stadium. In case you hadn't heard. To shine some light on the Birds of Prey, we welcomed Locked on Eagles co-hosts Michael Kist (@MichaelKistNFL) and Benjamin Solak (@BenjaminSolak). We chatted about how the Eagles defense matchups up against Case Keenum and the Vikings, their belief in Nick Foles, and how the Zimmer Double-A Gap look is so simple/so complicated. Plus Jordan Reid (@JReidDraftScout) swings in to share our mutual belief about the Minneapolis Miracle and look ahead to Philly.

The Minneapolis Miracle is in the rearview but the afterglow is enough to melt the heart of even the chilliest of Minnesota Fightin' Vikings fans. To sort through the madness and get us refocused on the prize is Friend Emeritus of the Program Arif Hasan (@ArifHasanNFL). We gabbed about the miracle play, how New Orleans was able to stage the comeback in the first place, the Tebowmania element to Case Keenum, the importance of Andrew Sendejo, and we look ahead to the strengths and weaknesses of the Philadelphia Eagles.
