All three of us have made the transition from maternity leave to working. And all three of us had different experiences every single time. For some women, they are excited for the opportunity to head back where others may end up with tears streaming down their face in the parking lot at daycare drop off.

All feelings are valid. It doesn’t make you any less of a mother if you are joyfully packing your work bag to head back. And it doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be a working mother if you’re in tears, it just may mean it takes a bit more time to fully transition.
