Pursuit With Cliff - Cliff Gray

Evan and I worked together for many years in the Flat Tops Wilderness, guiding dozens of public land elk hunts. His track record says it all, having harvested himself or with clients over 50 bulls in over-the-counter public land Colorado units. There are very few living hunters that can make that claim.

"People correlate effort with results. Guys will say, "I walked 50 miles today and I didn't see an elk". And I'm thinking like, well, yeah, it's because you walked 50 miles." - Evan

"I think it's hunters just quitting, giving in. If that's where the elk are. It's what you have to do." - Evan

In this conversation, Evan shares valuable insights and strategies for archery elk hunting in challenging units. This stuff works.

Evan now runs Flat Tops Wilderness Guides-

Dan and I discuss the current landscape of hunting in Colorado and the challenges hunters are facing from anti-hunting groups. We explore the tactics and strategies these groups use to push their agenda and how hunters can combat them effectively.

One of the key takeaways from our conversation was the realization that the fight against hunting restrictions is not just about a specific type of hunting. It's a continuous battle that could potentially lead to the end of all hunting in the U.S. Dan shared valuable insights on how hunters can navigate this changing landscape and protect their hunting rights.

We also delved into the intricacies of the lion ballot initiative in Colorado, discussing the signature gathering process and the potential implications of the initiative. Dan provided a detailed overview of the initiative and highlighted the challenges faced by the opposition in gathering signatures.

Furthermore, we explore the broader implications of wildlife management and conservation, emphasizing the importance of educating the general public about the benefits of responsible wildlife management. Dan and I discus the need for hunters to actively engage in conservation efforts and advocate for science-based wildlife management practices.
