The conversation between Boaz and Ruth in Perek 2 of Megillat Ruth is warm and elegant. But, at one point, Boaz seems to take a harsh tone and corrects Ruth on something she has said. Quote: ‘Heaven Forbid. You are not among the maidservants…’ Why the need for the aggressive tone?The Rambam writes that one who does not anticipate the coming of Moshiach is a heretic, a denier of the Torah and Moshe Rebbeinu

The Gemara says that Shimshon rebelled against Hashem with his eyes and was punished by having his eyes gouged out by the Plishtim. Yet, before he died he asks Hashem for reward for his eyes.

The Kabbalists see tremendous significance in Shinshon’s choice of words as he Davened to Hashem for strength one more time right before he died.

Ruth speaks to Boaz for the first time: ‘Why have I found favor in your eyes to recognize me? I am a stranger’The Midrash says she knew through prophecy that she would be his wife. The Targum says she insisted that she could not be his wife because she was from the nation of Moab who were rejected eternally by GD and His Torah.The Chidah sees the struggle of Ruth to physically walk, as the ultimate indicator that Ruth was sincere. He draws a fascinating comparison to Reish Lakish. Reish Lakish as well demonstrates his sincerity to become a Baal Teshuva by displaying physician weakness.

The Torah describes, how he invited her, what they ate, where she sat as well as the menu and the leftovers.The Midrash sees this exchange reverberating 5 times in the future. Boaz noticed Ruth and inquired after her identity. The Misrash insists, Boaz knew who she was, he was asking something else.

Shaul inquires after Dovid’s identity. But, he was really asking something else.

Doeg Hoadomi contests the validity of Dovid Hamelech. Shmuel Hanavi replies that Doeg is a heretic and will not die in peace.

Moshe Rabbeinu doesn’t want to accept the women’s mirrors for the Mishkan, he is disgusted by them since they are designed for the Yetzer Hora. Hashem tells Moshe to accept them and that they are more precious than anything else.

Moshe Rabbeinu complained to Hashem that Aaron his brothers honor was compromised: ‘Is this befitting the honor of my brother Aaron to examine people’s afflictions?’

Hashem’s response seems callous. He responds that Aaron was had to do this because he benefitted by receiving the 24 Gifts of Kehuna.

The Medrash provides a shocking analogy to explain how Aaron earned these 24 gifts.

The Baal Haturim wants us to see this connected to Yaakov’s discovery that he married Leah not Rochel.
