Coach Dean Hood asked Murray State Hall of Fame tailback, Danny Lee Johnson, to speak to the Racer football team about the life lessons he learned from 1977-81 while wearing the Navy and Gold.

Murray State AD Nico Yantko joins the program to put a wrap on a great first year with his alma mater and to look forward to another year of gains in 2022-23.

Craig Bohnert was the chief communications director for Murray State Athletics from 1984-90 and witnessed some of the biggest moments in the history of the program. From MSU's football win at Louisville in 1984 to the Racers' first NCAA Basketball Tournament victory in 1988, Craig was there.

She did for her student-athletes as Murray State's Coach Margaret Simmons did for her when she chose the Racers out of Somerset, Ky. Carla Coffey was MSU's first woman to be inducted into the MSU Hall of Fame in 1981.

The Racer Report had the chance to visit with Missouri Valley Conference Commissioner, Jeff Jackson, about Murray State's first year as members of The Valley. We also look at a summer tradition for Murray State men's golf, current and former, and that is teeing it up at the Irvin Cobb Championships.

Playing for MSU women's basketball from 2009-13, Mariah Robinson came out of Ohio County and set the Racers' career 3-point record of 264. These days Mariah is a mom and former basketball coach as she pours herself into her faith and her family and as always, she's very proud to be a Racer.

Murray State women's basketball Hall of Famer, Ashley Hayes, has decided a career in coaching basketball is in her future. An outstanding player for the Racers from 2005-09, we catch up with Ashley to talk about why she chose to coach at the middle school level. Also news from another MSU Hall of Famer, Isaiah Canaan, who is headed back to Greece with the same team that he won a championship with in 2023.

Steve Barrett became a star in two sports for the Racers from 1970-74, playing for two Murray State legendary coaches, Cal Luther and Johnny Reagan. Barrett also has the distinction of being the only MSU Baseball student-athlete to be drafted three times by Major League Baseball teams. Steve took a little bit from Luther and Reagan to carve out his own legendary coaching career at Pike Central High School near his hometown of Otwell, Indiana.

Murray State Baseball coach Dan Skirka is getting the chance to spend some of his summer with USA Baseball. It marks the third time that he has been involved with our nation's top amateur baseball organization.
