On episode No. 64, Racer Basketball great, De’Teri Mayes joins us as he reflects on his MSU Hall of Fame career from 1996-98. Mayes was MSU's all-time two-year scorer when he finished and on Christmas Day in 1997, he had the game of his life against Arkansas. Voice of the Racers Neal Bradley and Assistant AD for sports medicine, Eric Frederick, share their thoughts of that game in 1997. Also a look to the weekend as Racer 1 runs for the final time of the season and Racer Basketball signs four talented players on national signing day.

Episode 63 of the podcast features Austen Lane who becomes a Murray State Hall of Famer (Nov. 15). From small town Iola, Wisc, to Murray State, then to the NFL, Mixed Martial Arts, Sports Illustrated contributor and now a Jacksonville, Fla., sports radio personality, Austen has done a lot before his 32nd birthday.

Competing for Racer football from 2006-09, he had back-to-back seasons as All-America and All-OVC, including the 2009 OVC Defensive Player of the Year award. Still the Racers' all-time sacks leader, Lane was MSU’s highest NFL draft pick in 2010 when the Jacksonville Jaguars selected him as the fifth round. After playing five season for the Jags, Chiefs, Cardinals and Bears, Austen Lane picked up MMA fighting and is still committed to it now.

Episode 62 of the podcast centers on the homecoming visit of former Murray football coach Mike Gottfried and his 1979 OVC Championship team that was undefeated. His speech at the reunion dinner was fabulous as he talked of the great things the game has given him. We also hear from former MSU sports information director, Doug Vance, on the 40th anniversary of the first nationally televised Racer football game. News of the week includes the recent passing of former Racer basketball coach Fred Overton.

In MSU Athletics news of the week, the great granddaughter of legendary Coach Roy Stewart, Krista Lauren Hooper, talks of her experience singing the national anthem at the stadium named after him.

Out of Anaheim, Calif., Anthony Koclanakis has shown that he is a talented linebacker for the Murray State football team. He's well on his way to All-OVC status as a junior and you'll enjoy hearing his story about LA traffic and earthquakes to how he weaves through traffic on the field and makes earth-shaking tackles. It's homecoming week at MSU and we have the scoop on what Racer Athletics is up to and news of the great grand-daughter of MSU icon Coach Roy Stewart set to sing the National Anthem before the Racers host EKU.

A Chicago native, Fernandez is the reigning OVC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Year and has high hopes of leading the Racers to another OVC championship. Out of Temecula, Calif., Karsyn Hasch has been a mainstay to the defense of the Murray State soccer program since she arrived as a freshman in 2016. On episode 58 of the podcast, Hasch talks of the standard the program has set and what it would be like to go out as a senior with a fourth OVC championship. On episode 57, Racer Great football player Don Clayton stops by and talks about his amazing career with Murray State from 1971-74. More than 40 years after his last game, Don is still the Racers' all-time leading rusher. Episode 56 spotlights Miyah Watford of Murray State Soccer. The senior from Indy has thrilled fans with her goal scoring talent and this season is taking aim at the Racers' single-season record. She talks of the winning culture of MSU Soccer that has been built by four-straight seasons of winning either the OVC regular season championship or OVC Tournament championship. A journalism major, Walton also speaks of his desire for a career in media.
