Episode 63 of the podcast features Austen Lane who becomes a Murray State Hall of Famer (Nov. 15). From small town Iola, Wisc, to Murray State, then to the NFL, Mixed Martial Arts, Sports Illustrated contributor and now a Jacksonville, Fla., sports radio personality, Austen has done a lot before his 32nd birthday.
Competing for Racer football from 2006-09, he had back-to-back seasons as All-America and All-OVC, including the 2009 OVC Defensive Player of the Year award. Still the Racers' all-time sacks leader, Lane was MSU’s highest NFL draft pick in 2010 when the Jacksonville Jaguars selected him as the fifth round. After playing five season for the Jags, Chiefs, Cardinals and Bears, Austen Lane picked up MMA fighting and is still committed to it now.
