South African President Jacob Zuma has addressed world leaders at the start of a major climate change summit - saying developed countries have a "egal obligation to help developing nations. More than 140 world leaders have attended the opening of COP21. Delegates are aiming to secure agreements to ensure greenhouse gas emissions do not rise by more than 2 degrees celsius. Sports Scientist and banting-proponent, Professor Tim Noakes, will only begin to defend his contentious views on nutrition when a hearing into his conduct resumes next year. The Health Professions Council of South Africa has instituted charges of misconduct against him after he advised a mother on Twitter to wean her newborn baby on a low-carb high-fat diet last year. The hearing, which started last week, had been set down for seven days, however the HPCSA's last minute request to call additional witnesses led to it being postponed to the eight of February next year. Striking employees of waste management company Pikitup, affiliated to trade union Samwu have vowed to continue until their demands are met. Samwu officials have met with Pikitup management, where the employer requested the workers to go back to work while they try to resolve their issues. But workers say they refuse to be bullied. South Africa's is among six countries where over half the world's adolescents living with HIV can be found. This was sighted by Simon Bland- a senior United Nations AIDS official, quoting a recent UN Children's Fund study that found the number of adolescent deaths from AIDS-related illnesses has tripled since 2000. To mark World Aids Day, The World Health Organisation and the Joint UN Programme on HIV/AIDS has emphasized expanding Anti Retroviral Therapies to all people living with the virus is key to ending the epidemic by 2030. At least five municipalities in the province are under administration, amid alleged maladministration, mismanagement of finances and corruption. Africa's biggest Aids conference has begun in Harare, Zimbabwe. The International Conference on AIDS and STI's in Africa (ICASA), will draw close to 4000 experts and government officials from around the continent.
