There has been widespread condemnation from various business sectors and unions in the wake of international retailer Steinhoff revelations of accounting irregularities. Many business groups are calling for business organisations to distance themselves from corrupt companies. Business Leadership South Africa (BLSA) says it is disappointed and disgruntled by Steinhoff's recent allegations. It says this makes big business look bad. It is calling on businesses to adhere to the codes of good corporate governance and ethics. Amina Accram reports

The ANC is proposing to establish what it calls an Electoral Revolutionary Council, to better screen it's members who want to occupy top leadership roles. This is contained in the ruling party's policy documents on organisational renewal, which will further be discussed at the National Conference in Nasrec next week. ANC President Jacob Zuma's term will come to an end, as the party gears up to elect new leadership. Mbali Sibanyoni reports...

Suspended head of the Gauteng Health Department, Dr Barney Selebano, has given contradicting answers on whether Premier David Makhura knew about the transfer of patients to NGOs. Selebano also said he will not resign over the bungled Esidimeni relocations, which resulted in the deaths of 143 mentally ill-patients. He maintaines that the decision to terminate the Life Esidimeni contract was a cost-cutting measure. But, he regrets not listening to warnings against the move. Wisani Makhubele reports..

Former Acting National Police Commissioner, Lieutenant-General Khomotso Phahlane is being implicated in allegedly fabricating a case against IPID Boss, Robert McBride. This follows a raid by Police watchdog, Independent Police Investigative Directorate - IPID - at Phalane's properties and those of his alleged accomplices. Phahlane was suspended in June after he was accused of fraud and corruption for allegedly taking kickbacks to secure SAPS tenders

COSATU in KwaZulu-Natal has vowed to curb the ill-treatment of workers at Durban factories following an exposé by the SABC of female workers being stripped naked on suspicions of theft when they knock off duty. At least two companies have admitted to the practice of strip searching while the labour department has also found that workers in these factories are exploited and under paid. Jerusalem is a final status issue and must be resolved through direct negotiations between the two parties. That was the view expressed by the United Nations Secretary General just moments after President Donald Trump's announcement that he was moving the United States Embassy to Jerusalem. Suspended head of the Gauteng Health Department Dr Barney Selebano has told the Life Esidimeni hearings in Johannesburg that he was scared to stand up to then MEC Qedani Mahlangu. Selebano says he agreed with Chief Director Molefi Mosenogi that the move could have dire consequences if carrid out hurriedly. Mosenogi led the project to transfer the mentally-ill patients to ill-eqqipped and unlicensed NGOs. Before patients were moved, Mosenogi wrote a letter the then MEC requesting a minimum of six months' extension for the project, saying it could not be carried out in three months.
