Road Traffic Management Cooperation CEO, Advocate Makhosini Msibi has committed to ensuring that law enforcement officers work throughout the night in order to tackle transgressions on the road that occur after sunset. Msibi together with transport minister, Joe Maswanganyi yesterday launched the holiday road safety campaign in Limpopo where the N1 has experienced a high number of accidents. In Gauteng, more than forty people have died on the roads since the start of December alone and many of those killed were pedestrians who were struck by cars.

Ghana's president, Nana Akufo-Addo has shocked his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron by calling for Africa to end its dependency on aid from the West. Macron is on an official visit at the Ghana's Presidential palace in the capital of Accra when Akufo-Addo told members of the media that Africa no longer continue to make policies on the basis of whatever support that the western world or France, or the European Union can give. Public Protector, Busisiwe Mkhwebane has found that the Eastern Cape provincial government improperly redirected about 300 million rand of public funds to pay for the funeral of former president Nelson Mandela. She found that some of the funds were meant for the provision of running water, electricity sanitation, ablution facilities, replacement of mud-schools and refurbishing hospitals.
