The state of New York in the US has announced that vaping will be outlawed in all indoor public spaces. The new rule, which will come into law in 30 days, will mean that the practice will be treated the same as smoking normal cigarettes. Vaping will be banned in places such as restaurants, bars and offices. Vaping products are marketed as a healthier alternative to cigarettes but health experts say they too carry long-term risks to the health of users and those around them. Three people are reported dead in Kenya as a result of violent clashes between voters and the police. Out of the three, two are reported killed in Nairobi, while one in Kisumu. Media reports suggest that voting in parts of Kenya might have to be delayed until Saturday the 28th of this month. We speak to our reporter in Kenya, Noma Bolani .

Questions continue to pour is around how SARS intends on covering the almost fifty-one Biliion rand shortfall in tax revenue collection. This after Finance Minister Malusi Gigaba revealed during his first mid-term budget budget speech on Wednesday that the country faces a revenue collection shortfall of fifty-point-eight Billion rands. Political parties have questioned whether the shortfall is due to a lack of leadership at SARS while its commissioner, Tom Moyane has pointed the finger to low GDP growth, which in turn results in lower personal income tax and VAT payments among other things. The Life Esidimeni Arbitration has heard that Acting head of the Gauteng Health Department Dr Enerst Kenoshi lied when he testified before the hearings that the department had handed all necessary documents to the police. A senior police officer charged with investigating the deaths of mentally ill patients told the hearings that they had to take the department to court to force it to release information. Johnson says the department's lack of cooperation has delayed their investigations as do not have the deceased's medical records. Wisani Makhuebele reports.....

Kenyan opposition supporters continue to clash with police in Nairobi's Kibera informal settlement on Election Day. The residential area is a stronghold of NASA's Raila Odinga - who's appealed to his followers to boycott the elections. Several stations have been locked by residents whilst others have a very poor turnout. The DA says it will consider all avenues possible to ensure a full review of Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane's fitness to hold office. This follows YESTERDAY'S resolution by Parliament's Portfolio Committee on Justice and Correctional Services that there is no basis to hold an inquiry into the fitness of the Public Protector (PP) to hold office. Last month, the DA wrote to the Speaker of the National Assembly, Baleka Mbete, requesting an investigation into the public protector's involvement into the ABSA/Bankorp bailout report.
