The Pan Africanist Congress is headed for yet another bitter leadership squabble which threatens the party's future. The recently-appointed party president and only member of parliament, Luthando Mbinda, as well as the secretary general of the party, Narius Moloto, are disputing who rightful custodian of the party is. Both leaders claim that the other has been suspended and ultimately expelled, following disciplinary processes. Back-to-back leadership battles in PAC saw the party's support shrinking to below zero percent during the 2014 general elections. Senior political journalist Amos Phago compiled this report

The Community Policing Forum in Mitchell's Plain on the Cape Flats, has called for a dedicated task team within the police force to deal with the ongoing gang violence in the township. Eight people have been killed in the area in the past week. The fight is apparently between rival gangs from Beacon Valley and the neighbouring Lentegeur township. Chris Mabuya reports..

At least one per cent of South Africans - over 500 000 people - are persons with disabilities. Most are unfortunately not financially equipped to deal with their disability. That's why a massive fundraising campaign takes place on the first of September every year. The fundraising campaign, called Casual Day, raises funds that reach over 500 schools and about 90 NGOs.
Each year the funds raised from the sale of stickers and other merchandising benefits 39 000 people directly and close to three million people indirectly.

Presidential hopeful Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma says the private ownership of shares in the Reserve Bank must cease, adding that government must be the sole owner of the shares. Evidence before the commission which has been sitting in Durban, revealed that holding a councillor's position was life- threatening. It has emerged that the National Students' Finance Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has erroneously given a Walter Sisulu University student 14-million-rand. A library on the university's Zamukulungisa Campus in Mthatha in the Eastern Cape was torched on Monday night. This follows students' protests related to financial exclusion at the Nelson Mandela Drive and Zamukulungisa campuses. Students claim that a number of them are excluded from the NSFAS programme. As rescue efforts at the Kusasalethu mine continued overnight, the mine says challenging ground conditions are slowing down progress. The bodies of three of the miners who were trapped underground following a seismic event at the mine on Friday have been brought to surface.
