Some political parties in Parliament have condemned the government's decision of granting diplomatic immunity to Zimbabwe's First Lady Grace Mugabe to answer charges of assault. The Department of International Relations (Dirco) yesterday issued a statement confirming that Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane had indeed given Mugabe diplomatic immunity for the alleged assault of Gabriella Engels 2 weeks ago .

Zimbabwe's first lady Grace Mugabe has faced a barrage of criticism after returning home from South Africa, where she is accused on assault. Mugabe left the country in the early hours of yesterday morning alongside President Robert Mugabe. Mugabe allegedly attacked Gabriella Engels at a hotel in Sandton.Mugabe has been given a diplomatic immunity by the South African government.
