A number of branches in the O.R Tambo region in the Eastern Cape have threatened to interdict the ANC from holding its provincial elective conference scheduled for next month. They've filed papers in the Mthatha High Court challenging the integrity of the O.R Tambo regional leadership. The branches want the provincial leadership to disband the regional leadership on the grounds that some of the members and branches that elected it were bogus. The Moerane Commission investigating political killings in KwaZulu-Natal, has heard evidence from the DA head of the uMgungundlovu East Constituency, Dean Macpherson, in relation to deaths in the Richmond area of the Midlands. He says the killings of ANC councillor Sifiso Mkhize and municipal manager Sibusiso Sithole are politically-related. He told the commission that at the time of Sithole's assassination the deceased had suspended a Richmond municipality official for irregular expenditure. In Mkhize's case, Macpherson alleges that ANC infighting is behind his killing. Meanwhile, Sithole's wife told the commission she was in the dark regarding police investigations into his death.
