Raising The Standard

You were taught that being "driven" is a flesh problem. Scripture says it is the mark of a son. The same Spirit that DROVE Jesus into the wilderness, the same word used everywhere else for casting out demons, is the Spirit that makes a man a son of God.

In this teaching: why there are two kinds of driven (one from the flesh, one from the Spirit), the difference between a child of God and a son of God that almost nobody teaches, the verse most Christians walk right past (Romans 8:17), why you can be saved and still stuck, and what it actually costs a man to stay a child his whole life.

You became a child of God the moment you believed. That is grace, and it is settled forever, and nothing can touch it. But not every child goes on to walk as a son. This is the call to go on.

Everyone teaches the parable of the sower wrong.

They say three of the four soils failed. Three-quarters of the sowing came to nothing. That is not what happened.

God said His Word never returns empty. This is the Son of God sowing the Word of God. Not one seed failed. The seed did its job every single time. The seed was never the variable.

The seed isn't on trial in this parable. You are. Four men hear the exact same truth and get four completely different outcomes, because of what was already in the ground before the seed ever landed. That ground is your operating system. The root system installed in you long before you had a say.

• The four kinds of men in the parable, and how to tell which one is you.
• Why the careless man who shrugs off the Word isn't neutral. There's no neutral with Jesus.
• Why the thorn-choked man is the driven believer whose own ambition is quietly strangling the Word in his chest. Not sin. Success.
• Why even the good soil runs at thirty, sixty, or a hundredfold, and why you go all in everywhere else but run thirtyfold with God and call it balance.
• And the turn most preachers skip: your soil is not your sentence. Soil is dirt, and dirt can be worked.

God will keep every promise He ever made to you. He will not fulfill your potential. That part is on you.

• Why the Bible reads like a graveyard of men who had the calling and still died short. Moses on the mountain, looking at a Promised Land he never entered. A whole generation that died in the desert. The servant who buried what he was given and got called wicked and lazy.
• The line that changes everything: God's promises are guaranteed. Your potential is not.
• Why Paul says work out your salvation with fear and trembling, and in the same breath, for it is God who works in you. Both. Take out God's part and it's self-help. Take out yours and it's wishful thinking.
• The two ways a man forfeits his potential. Passive, waiting on a feeling and calling it faith. Or presumptuous, grinding in his own strength and calling it ambition. Both die short of the land.

This is not a call to strive harder on your own steam. It's a call to move with God, and to move now. He made you for dominion. To cross the river and take the territory with His hand on your shoulder.

The version of you on the other side of that river gets a little further away every year you don't cross. Someday is where potential goes to die.
