WE MADE IT TO 10! Happy Birthday(?) to us? We’re bringing you a special edition of RYP where they guys each bring a top 10 list to celebrate our 10th episode.
We find out who was the best to wear the number 10, talk about our favorite jerseys, go through players who almost won an MVP once, and discuss our favorite batting stances/swings.
We hope you enjoy the change of pace and we will be back with our regularly scheduled episodes next week!
WHAT’S UP BROTHER!? Well, some of us are still struggling with realizing what teams are actually good and which aren’t, but the rest of us very kindly try to set everyone on the right path.
The Stat Man takes a dive into the shallow end of spin rate and specifically how it affects 4 seam fastballs. It might not be that long until we actually see a truly rising fastball.
Everyone dreams of making it to the show and picking their own walk up songs. The guys go through their picks and it goes off the rails (or maybe off the top rope). If you’ve ever wished for a baseball and WWE crossover podcast, boy, do we have the perfect segment for you. Sit back and enjoy the madness. And that’s the bottom line, cuz Stone Cold said so.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there! We all love our moms and the mothers of our respective children and fur-children, but maybe not as much as some baseball players love their moms based on their Mother’s Day performances.
We discuss the Cardinals throwing Willson Contreras under the bus and the No-Win situation Contreras is in trying to follow up future Hall of Famer Yadier Molina. All is not lost as the Cardinals have proven talent ready at AAA if they ever get the call. Can someone check to make sure someone didn’t trip over the phone line? Not only do the Cardinals have young guys ready, all of the NL Central is looking pretty good for the future.
We saw (maybe?) the first pimp job from a fielder on a ground ball and discuss how we feel about that and some unwritten rules. Pencil a couple of us in as managers in the No-Fun League.
We wrap it up with our weekend predictions and continue to do a perfectly average job of acting like we know what we’re talking about.
Not much of a shake up in the top 5 this week as the teams stay the same. One month into the season we review some of our great and not-so-great picks for end of the season awards. As long as a few guys stay healthy it would seem they could run away with the awards already. Some of the moves the Cardinals are making (and not making) continue to be confusing. Harper, TA, and Verlander are all returning from injury and we look forward to seeing the boost they can provide their teams. If the White Sox don’t see a turnaround in the upcoming month is it too early to sell? We discuss some of the other things we’re looking forward to this month, player feedback on the new rules, and remember a broadcasting legend.
Also we briefly discuss animal based sports movies. You’re welcome.
Quite the shake up in the top 5 (other than #1, obviously) as we have 2 newcomers and a surprising team sticking around. Miguel Cabrera is (was?) very good at baseball. We take a deep dive into the shallow end of expected team performance and get an update on how we’re feeling about our favorite teams. You know what’s fun? Great plays, everyone makes them, even Ahron makes them by accident. Joe is hopping on the Pirates train in the latest installment of the Ottwell Oration. All aboard, choo choo.
The rule changes were actually a great idea? Minor leaguers get a big raise (but should get more). Mets can’t score runs, Ahron thinks the Marlins might be slightly above average, and the Blue Jays are already DONE. Joe questions all of his life choices, but loves Jordan Walker and Kodai Senga. MadBum on the bubble, prospect watch, and expanding baseball to new, exciting places and fan bases.
Welcome to the Rake Your Position, where 4 long time baseball fans finally commit to recording their discussions instead of throwing all this podcast gold right out the window. It’s a baseball podcast for casual and serious fans alike. Jared goes back on his word, Ahron likely enrages one of the largest fan bases, Cory has a big slip, and Joe picks an empty uniform to win Rookie of the Year.
