M is for Mondays, M is for Moscow and, most importantly of all, M is for Mix. We're combining all three in one fell swoop as this week's Monday Is OK Mix comes from Moscow-based music-maker Dmitry Evgrafov. With a penchant for making absolutely stunning ambient electronic music, Dmitry is currently working with Fat Cat's 130701 arm to release his album Collage. We very much liked what we've heard from him so far so, without a moment of hesitation, we asked Dmitry to put together mix for us. He duly obliged and so you can tune in while you read on, deep into the world of Dmitry Evgrafov...

I barely get time to listen to my records let alone a mix but one mix series that is always on rewind and repeat is Mark Seven’s superior ‘Parkway Mastermix’ selections with their post-disco and proto-boogie styling complete with some house flow in all its forms – think production powerhouses Paul Simpson on Easy Street or Winston Jones on Streetwise, the dream team of Boyd Jarvis and Timmy Regisford, NYC flavour courtesy of Emergency and Sleeping Bag and of course the emerging early foundations of house comin’ outta the Chi. 



As well as holdin’ it down as a DJ for the more discernible dancefloors Mark also runs @Parkway-Records and its house subsidiary Parkwest – their flavour harkin’ back to the post-disco 80s era and joining the dots between the classic sounds synonymous with New York, New Jersey and Chicago. Mark also runs his choice record joint Jus Wax - http://www.juswax.com/juswax/default.asp - which showcases his crate crusading credentials with a killer selection of vinyl on sale whether some obscure disco and boogie joints or long lost house hotplates.

So to kick off the House Hunting Hot Week I’ve scored a major coup with Mark droppin’ a House Hunting exclusive with the fourth volume of his ‘Parkway Mastermix’ series. Just like those early pirate and Kiss FM tapes, this one will take you back time to miss and reminisce... Big love to Mark!

After we premiered this lovely bit of aural work from Bird Of Paradise a little while back we kept in constant contact with the almighty feathered genius in the hope that he might one more grace our pages before too long. As luck would have it, he was pretty keen on the idea as well as dug himself away in his studio nest to emerge not too much later with a two hour mix filled with some of the finest sounds this side of the sun. Settle yourself in for a two hour aural journey courtesy of Bird Of Paradise and read on as we have a lovely bit of back and forth with him;

It's not often we turn our heads to Slovenia in search of new music but maybe that's something we should be doing more often. Why? Well, Radio Študent are a good reason to be sending your head off to Slovenia's shores as they're doing a mighty fine job of bringing out the finest alternative music. We enjoy their work so much, in fact, that we asked them to provide a mix for us and they duly obliged. The mix comes from Christian Kroupa who believes in the style on “serious fun” and, as well as asking Christian some questions about the mix, we also had a chat to Božidar Plesnik - the head music editor at Radio Študent - to find out a bit more about what they do;

Señor Cave is escaping his loneliness, it’s unavoidable. Ryanair to Cadiz was his best/ cheapest option. Looking down over a darkening sunset, he mistakes an Instagram that sums up his uselessness for acceptance. Fucking idiot. He can’t begin, “hearts” that join his wallowing descendance. He can’t make it up. Bar on the view makes things more tolerable, well, they serve and “cerveze”.

The bittersweet melancholia of Evvol is haunting, it echoes up from below a nocturnal, lake-long shadow, creaking, bleeping, twittering, twisting, reverberating, modulating; breathless and optimistic in it's sadness. Recent record 'Eternal' is a collection of brilliant songs, varied in tone and intent, textured and far-reaching in it's ideas and energy. We caught up with them to ask some of our similarly deep and meaningful questions to find out their thoughts on exercise, voles and evil. Their next release is a remix EP on the ever impressive !K7 Records, around the same time as their second UK show in Hoxton at the end of November.
