Welcome to "Rapidly Rotating Records," Glenn Robison's weekly, one hour radio program of "toe-tapping music from rapidly rotating 78RPM records of the 1920s and 30s", broadcast Sunday evenings at 6:00 PM over KISL FM 88.7 Avalon.
On this week's brand new show, we're going to celebrate the birthdays of Johnny Johnson and Johnny Bayersdorffer, we'll hit the trail, take a Sunday drive, and visit River City. For the River City segment, we go way outside our usual 1920s and 30s parameters to play records by composers and artists mentioned in Meredith Wilson's play "The Music Man," including a Berliner disc from 1898! These old acoustic recordings take a lot of work to listen to, but I hope you'll make the effort and will find it worthwhile. Your payoff, while still an acoustical recording, will be a great ride from Johnny Bayersdorffer's Jazzola Novelty Eight with "I Wonder Where My Easy Rider's Riding Now."
As always, just click on the link below to instantly listen streaming online and/or download the show. A number of records are making their RRR debut and your comments, topic suggestions and requests are always welcome. Let us know what your favorite record is this week.
