I hope all of our listeners here in the US had a safe and sane 4th of July holiday. Welcome to "Rapidly Rotating Records," Glenn Robison's weekly, one hour radio program of "toe-tapping music from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and 30s", broadcast Sunday evenings at 6:00 PM over KISL FM 88.7 Avalon.

This week it's a shiny, brand-spankin' new edition of the show! We're going to celebrate the birthdays of Gene Austin, Clyde Doerr and Maceo Pinkard, but the first segment kicks off the show with some "kick" songs. Why? Well, to bring your attention to the "Treasures of Tin Pan Alley" campaign on kickstarter.com. "Treasures of Tin Pan Alley" is a 2 CD set of vocal recordings by Ian Whitcomb, and features over 50 songs from the 1910s, 20s and 30s, personally selected by Ian from long out of print LPs and CDs. All of the recordings are being remastered by Bryan Wright of Rivermont Records. I am proud to have been asked by Ian to write the liner notes for the set. But in order to make the project a reality, the kickstarter campaign must meet its goal. We have had a phenomenal start, but there's a bit of a way to go. This is a limited edition set and is not guaranteed to be available to the public beyond this offer. You can read all of the details by clicking on the link below:

Treasures of Tin Pan Alley by Ian Whitcomb Kickstarter Campaign

Please check it out and to those of you who have already generously supported the project, THANK YOU!!

Last week's show featured a topic on the word "synecdoche." As I suspect for many people, it was a new word to my friend Bryan Wright, who runs Rivermont Records (www.RivermontRecords.com). In a conversation about the show, he remarked that about 10 years ago when he first started listening to RRR, I created an entire show around the word "pauciloquent," and that he uses that word to this day. So, I decided to play that show again. A few of you, like Bryan, may have heard the original show, but for many of you it will be brand new. On this week's brand new edition of Rapidly Rotating Records, we're going to have a musical baby shower! As you're listening to the original over the air broadcast of this show, I'm actually at a baby party. Many of you know my friend David Weinberg, propritor of randomtape.com, and producer for APM Marketplace. Well David and his lovely wife are having a baby! There are lots and lots of vintage songs about babies, but most of them use baby as a term of endearment for a lover or spouse. But I did manage to find some vintage records about infants and having a baby. Enough for not one, but two segments! We'll also celebrate the birthdays of Archie Gottler, Grant Clarke and Scrappy Lambert. As always, just click on the link below to instantly listen streaming online and/or download the show.
