Full Hour | Dom Giordano, WPHT host and former teacher, has dedicated much of his daily show toward parents who are taking it into their own hands to push back against school boards that have a negative impact on their children. This has culminated in a weekly podcast on education, Readin', Writin', and Reason, which has allowed wonderful relationships to develop between Giordano, educators, and parents throughout the country who are speaking out against overbearing school boards.
First, Dom welcomes Megan Brock of ParentsHaveTheRightToKnow.com back onto the podcast to discuss multiple different issues she’s uncovered using ‘Right-to-Know’ requests and internet sleuthing. First, Brock and Giordano discuss comments made by a Doctor at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s Policy Lab where the Doctor tried assigning a new definition to ‘parent,’ trying to encompass any trusted grown adult as an advocate for the child. Giordano and Brock explain what they find wrong with the comment as the push continues to remove the rights of parents when determining the best for their children. Also, Brock tells what she’s learned about a new push for the return of masking in public places, offering up that she believes it to be a nothing-burger as society has hopefully moved on from the restrictive demands of masking. Then, Brock comments on what’s going on within schools, and tells what she’s learned about the progressive infusion of politics into public education.
Then, Dom welcomes Dr. Elana Fishbein, Founder of No Left Turn in Education, back on to discuss some information she’s received and reported upon showing a Special Education teacher in the Lower Merion School District showing off a slideshow that tells of their transgender experience. After the clip went viral on social media, concerned parents reached out to No Left Turn in Education, who then filed a Right-to-Know request asking for the lesson plans taught by the teacher. After the district denied the request, the State’s Office of Open Records told the district to release the plans, causing the district to sue to try and overturn the ruling. Fishbein explains why she and the parents are concerned with the material, and explain what they help to determine by acquiring the teacher’s lesson plans.
