Dom Giordano, WPHT host and former teacher, has dedicated much of his daily show toward parents who are taking it into their own hands to push back against school boards that have a negative impact on their children. This has culminated in a weekly podcast on education, Readin', Writin', and Reason, which has allowed wonderful relationships to develop between Giordano, educators, and parents throughout the country who are speaking out against overbearing school boards.
First, Dom welcomes back Angela Reading, a mother and former member of the Northern Burlington Board of Education, onto the Dom Giordano Program to discuss updates in her story since she last joined our show to tell us about an online controversy that lead to some real life implications. Back in December, after attending a District Family Math Night, Reading wrote on Facebook some concerns she had regarding posters displayed in school hallways supporting with questionable commentary about sexuality. After the post, a military official responded with a threat to involve the military, which has led to multiple exchanges now between Reading, the school district, and the federal government. Reading updates how things have gone since the post and controversy went viral, and tells about new representation she’s employed to push back against an alleged overstepping of justice.
Then, Dom welcomes in Bill Donohue, President of the Catholic League, to discuss the intersection between religion and politics, particularly in light of the coming departure of Senator Dianne Feinstein. First, Dom flashes back to a hearing for Amy Coney Barrett in which Feinstein used ‘the dogma living within’ Barrett as a net negative while vying for a position as a judge. This causes a conversation about the Democratic version of Catholicism and religion, with Donohue pointing to the hypocrisies between Democratic stances on particular issues and their faith.
