I posted a reel (on Instagram), which is about whether you've been expecting to use letter names or letter sounds when teaching your child to read. I had a comment on that real, which was 'they're getting that at school. And most of the time we can already learn these things from videos.' This got me thinking about who's responsibility is actually to teach children to read. And what role do parents actually have in this reading process?

The benefits of learning in the kitchen are countless. But the reality of cooking with children can resemble an unexploded bomb rather than the picture on the front of a cookery book. Helping to prepare the environment ready for children to cook is a game changer for you for creating memories in the kitchen, rather than a battle with flour everywhere.

Sitting around a fire as a day comes to a close and sharing stories with others about the day. Whilst food is cooking is a pastime that has been part of human existence for millennia and in some form or another is part of life. All the world over this storytelling and cooking may look more like a video call and dinner stone in the oven, but nonetheless, it's still there.

It takes a village to raise a child as something that is often said. However, this village often looks very different from how it may have been in the past.
It's likely as a family that you'd have some connection to family members who live far away virtually, in the age where video calls are the norm.
Parents are feeling the strain of expectations for raising children these virtual connections to help create a virtual village to help support learning is an opportunity not to be missed.
