This episode is all about viewing sport as play and separating that play from the rules and constraints of every day life.
Ryan & Jordan explore how play is used to create meaning, how fine tuning attention immerses you into play and how play solves our need to become more than we currently are.
Some other topics covered: how wisdom is only acquired through experience, how ego is used effectively and how humility helps us extract lessons learned in the arena.
In this episode, I chat with Jonathan Hayes and hear how he went from struggling with "stick-to-itiveness" in the past... to rewriting that story and conquering his first 70.3 in less than 6 months on Team Tribal.
Jonathan joined the first Endurance Accelerator cohort in July, which was his first time ever joining an online community or men's group.
We talk about what he was looking for when he joined, how the community helped him stay committed to his goals, how his lifestyle choices (specifically around drinking) organically improved and how he redefined what he's capable of on race day.
We also get into race specifics and hear how his day unfolded.
Really great episode with a dude who absolutely earned every bit of progress and growth he's experienced these last 6 months.
Congrats on your finish line Jonathan!! Here's to many more.
This is 3 person episode with Nick Diller and Blaine Bursey recapping their first 70.3 (Florida 70.3 on 12/10/2024).
We talk about their full race experience, training challenges, why they signed up to begin with, what they were looking to find within themselves on the journey... and how they grew as men in the process of crossing the finish line.
This is the first episode of Tribal Cafe!
Tribal Cafe is a coffee shop style conversation between Ryan Dreyer and Jordan Goldstein all focused around fulfilling potential through mental, physical and spiritual development in sport.
This episode starts with the idea of finding fulfillment when you miss time or distance goals in a race. We use Ryan's recent 10:19 Ironman (short of sub-10 goal) and Jordan's 25 mile fasted trail run (short of 26.2 marathon goal) to mine real life examples of our process.
The conversation expands to include topics like ignorance in objective goal setting, how meaning and joy is found in subjective victories and making progress on the process and even some golf analogies at the end.
