Welcome to Recap Kickback where we chop it up about television, movies, and music - while being sure to highlight black media any chance we get!

A Different World is back — and Chappell and Mari are kicking off their Recap Kickback coverage by talking about the first two episodes of the 2026 reboot on Netflix.

But this isn't just a recap.

While discussing the first two episodes, Chappell and Mari find themselves talking about their own HBCU experiences, the people and moments that shaped them, and the ways that college life at an HBCU can be very different from what you see on screen.

From the first impressions of the new A Different World to conversations about HBCU culture, friendships, campus life and the experiences that come with attending an HBCU, this episode turns into a conversation about what the show gets right, what feels familiar, and what brings back memories from their own college days.

Welcome to Recap Kickback where we chop it up about black entertainment news and discuss all of our favorite movies and shows.

Last week Chappell and Gia talked about “Why Did I Get Married” but this week they are discussing the chaos of “Why Did I Get Married Too”!

In Episode 2 of 3 of the Recap Kickback’s Why Did I Get Married? franchise recap, Chappell and Gia revisit the second of Tyler Perry’s series of films following the 4 couples (or what’s left of the couples) on their retreat.

But this movie has the characters acting brand new. Check out this review to hear Gia and Chappell discuss the villainous actions of some of the fan favorites from the first movie.

WHO WAS THE VILLAIN THIS TIME!? Spoiler alert. It ain’t mike.

Before Chappell and Gia get to Why Did I Get Married Again? on Netflix, they’re going back to where it all started!

In Episode 1 of 3 of the Recap Kickback’s Why Did I Get Married? franchise recap, Chappell and Gia revisit Tyler Perry’s 2007 classic and meet the four couples at the center of all the love, lies, arguments, secrets, and relationship drama.

From the couples retreat that was supposed to bring everyone closer together to the cheating scandals, friendship drama, questionable decisions, and those moments that had us asking “WHY DID YOU MARRY THEM?!” 😂 — Chappell and Gia are getting into all of it.

This is the first stop on our journey through the entire Why Did I Get Married? franchise as we revisit the movies leading up to Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married Again? on Netflix.

Then come back for Episode 2, where we recap Why Did I Get Married Too? before the franchise brings us to its newest chapter.

Who had the messiest marriage? Who needed to leave their relationship immediately? And who were YOU rooting for?
