Nothing went right. Can’t run the ball. Can’t stop the run. Turn the ball over. Justin Fields to DJ Moore looked like Joe Montana to Jerry Rice.
Who is to blame? Do players need to be benched? Do coaches need to be fired? Is the season over?
We break it all down.
Get those BOLD predictions ready! Ref the District gets spicy with their game predictions as they think the Washington Commanders easily beat the Chicago Bears.
The Washington Commanders look to defend their home turf during Thursday Night Football against the Chicago Bears. Last year was a low scoring affair. Will this year be any different?
uan Martin continues to struggle. Where does he stand among other second round picks this year? Efe Obada and Phidarius Mathis can start their return to the field. Will either make a difference for this Commanders Defense?
This game is a rematch of last year’s ugly 12-7 victory for the Commanders which was also on Thursday Night Football. Chicago is in total disarray due to injuries, poor QB play from Justin Fields and off-field issues that include WR Chase Claypool and former Defensive Coordinator Alan Williams.
The Commanders started the season with 2 consecutive wins but have dropped their last 2. However, they’ve lost to 2 Super Bowl contenders and hope to get back on track when they face the Bears in Landover, Maryland.
So much more in this game preview. Let’s gooooooo!
Jonathan Allen recorded .5 sack against the Eagles and now has 35.5 for his career which ties the franchise record with Dave Butz. Hopefully Allen will be here a long time and put the record out of reach.
We have injury updates for today although with a short week today’s practice was only a walk through. Jahan Dotson, Chris Rodriguez & Curtis Samuel had minor injuries but were at practice.
We went through PFF grades and power rankings from the 33rd team. While doing so, we noted Kendall Fuller through the first 4 games was the #1 rated CB in the league. Nathan wants credit for saying for a long time that Kendall Fuller is a CB1 and now Fuller is finally getting his just due.
Washington got out to an early lead as they scored a touchdown on each of their first 2 posessions but the momentum swung to Philadelphia in the middle of the game. However Washington came back late to tie the game and send it into overtime.
Should Washington have gone for 2 points at the end of the game? What is going on with the defense giving up an average of 30 points per game in their first 4 games?
We look at the impressive drive in our film session, give our Go-Go’s and No-Go’s and final thoughts as the Commanders head into a short week against the Chicago Bears on Thursday Night Football.
Washington came out fast and took a 17-7 lead in the first half. The offense was humming with a combination of short passes and runs and their defense kept the high octane Eagles offense at bay. However, Jahan Dotson dropped an easy 1st down which seemed to change the momentum.
Philadelphia scored the next 14 points over the course of the next 30 minutes to take a 24-17 lead. Washington tied it but then the Eagles scored with less than 2 minutes to go to take a 31-24 lead.
The Commanders were not done. They scored on the games final play to come within 1 point. Head coach Ron Rivera decided to kick the tying extra point to send the game to overtime.
The Commanders had the first crack at it but eventually had to punt after a close incompletion from Sam Howell to Terry McLaurin. The Eagles kicked the winning field goal.
Do you believe in moral victories? We debated after this tough loss.
Philadelphia is obviously a juggernaut. Washington will have to play their best if they want to upset the Eagles. Mike laid out plenty of scenarios in which this could happen but he is picking Philly to dominate Washington.
So much more in this game preview. Let’s gooooooo!
Logan Thomas was back at practice today and will play on Sunday. Logan provides a solid target for Sam Howell so this is a big deal. However, Percy Butler who is dealing with a foot injury was limited in practice today and is questionable for Sunday.
Stoner and Nathan dive a little bit more into Sam Howell’s sack numbers. Of every QB who has been drafted into the NFL since 2015, Sam Howell has the 2nd worst Pressure to Sack % while in college. Of all those QB’s, he has the WORST %. This is something that he absolutely has to fix or it could spell doom for his NFL career.
