Democrat Candidate for Congress in the 17th District, Eric Sorensen is making a final campaign push ahead of Tuesday's election. Sorensen, well known as a weather forecaster in the Quad Cities for 20 years, talked to Wake Up Tri-Counties on Friday about the latest from the campaign trail, whether or not he'd be a rubber stamp for the Democrat agenda in Congress, and his dedication to working on Climate Change via new technology and job creation if elected to Congress.

The Republican candidate for Congress in the 17th District in Illinois, Esther Joy King, is on the campaign trail. On this Friday, King is in Macomb and on Sunday, King will be in Kewanee for a rally at Cerno's. King will be holding a get out the vote rally in Kewanee beginning at 7 PM at Cerno's. We spoke to King on Friday on Wake Up Tri-Counties where she talked about her recent and upcoming campaign stops, her background, which has been the subject of political attack, and how she might reach across the aisle if elected to Congress.

Adam Marriott, owner and operator of A & M Amusements in Maryville and St. Joe was our guest on the Breakfast Club this morning. Adam talked about about a few changes coming up concerning the snowie shaved ice which he offers at events, the large number of attractions the business has and some changes which he hopes to implement in the future.

While working as a teacher in Florida, Maribeth Grafelman met a teacher's assistant named Suree. The two became friends and when Maribeth learned that her friend was traveling back and forth to Thailand to help a school there, she wanted to pitch in. Now retired and living in Kewanee, Maribeth and Suree continue to work together to support the Maesuk School. That support created a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for supplies, construction and chickens that the kids themselves tend to at the school. It's an act of generosity and a teachable moment about charity from a former teacher. Because of that, and the good deed it entails, WKEI wanted to throw a little spotlight on Maribeth and the Maesuk School and see if we can help their fundraising effort.
