A new version of the COVID-19 vaccine from Moderna is now available for those seeking a booster shot to combat the latest COVID-19 variation. The Henry and Stark County Health Department will be holding a COVID-19 Booster Clinic from 4 Pm to 7 Pm this evening at Kewanee High School. No appointment is necessary. The only requirements are that you are 12 years old or older and that you have received your first two doses of COVID-19, the original two shot sequence. You cannot get the new booster unless you've had both of your COVID-19 shots and that your most recent booster shot was more than 2 months ago. The Omicron strain of COVID-19 is now the most dominant strain in the country and variations of the Omicron strain have led to the need to create a new version of the booster vaccine. RaeAnn Tucker from the Henry and Stark County Health Department talked about tonight's Booster Clinic and talked about how the most recent COVID-19 numbers are down slightly. Both Henry and Stark County moved back to the low risk for transmission status of last Friday, September 9th, 2022.

This weekend and next weekend, theaters across the country will be alive with the music of David Bowie. The documentary Moonage Daydream from director Brett Morgen is the first documentary made with the cooperation of the David Bowie estate. This gave Brett Morgen access to David Bowie materials that even the most diehard of Bowie fans have never heard before. In the archives of the David Bowie estate were at least one fully produced unreleased concert film from 1978 and endless numbers of little seen interviews that make up the unusual narration of the movie, in Bowie's own words. Moonage Daydream has been made specifically for IMAX presentation. The sound and the sights have been created with the large IMAX screen in mind and the wrap around, booming sound of the IMAX. We were lucky to speak with filmmaker Brett Morgen about Moonage Daydream on Wake Up Tri-Counties.

The Stark County Fall Festival is set for Saturday September 17th and Sunday, September 18th at Thomas Park in Wyoming, IL. Peg Gary with the Stark County Fall Festival joined Wake Up Tri-Counties on WKEI on Wednesday morning with the exciting news that the Fall Festival is now back at full strength after two years of restrictions related to COVID-19. This year more than 40 vendors, dozens of children's activities, and two breakfasts, one each day of the festival are set to occur. For the first time in the Fall Festival history, The Lions Club Breakfast will be on Saturday starting at 7 Am. Then on Sunday, the Wyoming Fire Department will provide a breakfast of Biscuits and Gravy beginning at 7 Am. That's just the start of the day. Saturday features a 5K Run, the announcement of the Little Miss and Little Mr. Stark County Fall Festival, the Pedal Tractor Pull for kids AND adults, and live music. Sunday features a church service followed by Live Music and the Doggy Pageant where you and your best friend can win numerous prizes. Ag Health and Safety Week is next week in Henry County and the Henry County Farm Bureau is ready for it. The Henry County Farm Bureau will spend the next week promoting safety and health initiatives all building toward an event for school kids at the Henry County Fairgrounds. Kids from local schools will be bussed to the Henry County Fairgrounds and have the chance to explore topics related to Farming, Farm Safety, Health, and Road Safety. Katie Laleman from the Henry County Farm Bureau spoke to WKEI Wake Up Tri-Counties on Wednesday morning.

Kewanee Mayor Gary Moore was our guest on Wake Up Tri-Counties on Tuesday, September 13th, 2022, The Mayor of Kewanee joined WKEI to talk about the decision to hire a new Kewanee City Clerk, Kasey Mitchell, and part ways with the now former City Manager Rebecka ones. No firm reason was given as to why Jones parted ways with the City of Kewanee. The Mayor also discussed the decision to table a vote on a new ordinance regarding backyard chickens. The reason for the choice to table the ordinance, Kewanee City Council Member Tyrone Baker was not at the meeting and their was a distinct feeling that the remaining Council was going to end in a tie.
