  • You Love Me: A Joe Goldberg Novel

I ate too much Easter candy and forgot to upload. This episode Joe Goldberg grabs his flannel shirt and IPA and heads off to the Pacific Northwest where he's vowed never to kill again. Instead, he's forced to get creative this book through elaborate frames and internet campaigns to get the newest girl of his dream. If it just so happens that the girl already has a wife and husband, well Joe's got some interesting problem solving techniques. Don't worry, we forget everything that happened in the last book in the first five minutes.

  • Hidden Bodies: A Joe Goldberg Novel

When Joe Goldberg has to chase his dream girl to LA, he sees everything Hollywood has to offer. Meeting fresh new comedians, rising scriptwriters and building a crew to help follow his dreams (of murdering a woman), Joe goes on a spree that takes him from the streets of California to the oceans of Mexico. Netflix really botched this one so sit back, tune in and listen to all the ways I can complain about how the book was better.

  • You: A Joe Goldberg Novel

We cover Joe Goldberg's beginning in our review of You by Caroline Kepnes. A romantic tale of a man determined to find love, Joe has to overcome many obstacles in his path to find the right woman. See all your favorites from the big screen (or whatever you watch Netflix on): Benji, Peach, Beck and Dr. Nicky as Joe demonstrates his creativity in making sure the perfect woman falls for him.

  • Mistborn: The Lost Metal

Wax and Wayne saddle up for one last ride. Years after their retirement in the Bands of Mourning, the two are called back for one last mission. Relying on their usual band of wacky hijinks, the two slaughter literally hundreds of men on their mission of revenge. This is the one where Wayne goes emo and we intoduce the multiverse of madness. They call it that because the concept makes me unreasonably angry.

  • Mistborn: Bands of Mourning

A little late but you can all blame North Carolina's terrible internet for that. The third book of Mistborn Era Two, we get to go full Indiana Jones with mass slaughter of nameless guards and ancient temples full of free cultural artifacts. Wax finds religion, Wayne gets cancelled and we have a special interview with the author.

  • Mistborn: Shadows of Self

When an old enemy turns back up, Wax is sent on a mission from god. With the city in turmoil and a new brand of insanity on the loose, Wax is forced to use only his wits, his guns and his immense magical powers to crush the person getting workers to ask for more rights. Near the end we discover Fletcher has the divine gift of prophecy.

  • Mistborn: Alloy of Law

We get topical and review Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn series, logically starting at book four. Magical cowboys who eat as much iron as they strap to their hips, Mistborn is everything I ever wanted from a book as we follow the lawmen Wax and Wayne on the trail of the mysterious Vanishers. Fletcher becomes enchanted by a serial killer, Connor channels his inner communist and Madre (unfortunately) makes predictions.

  • Joe Ledger: The Dragon Factory

Nazis. Clone assassins. Mutant soldiers. If I need anything else to sell you on this you might just hate fun. Joe Ledger is back and this time it's slightly more personal than it was before. He will still kill you an equal amount, so maybe that's not terribly important but you can rest assured that this book will bring with it the grindhouse level of violence and sexual depravity we've come to know and love from our favorite series.

  • Boss Witch

Ann Aguirre reaches out in this exciting tale of forbidden love and steamy romance. Well...it's a steaming pile anyway. When I was told a witch hunter was going to be in this book I expected someone who might actually at some point hunt witches. Come join us for this magical journey, or at least hang out until the talking mouse shows up.

  • Mexican Gothic

Silvia Moreno-Garcia's popular novel, set in a very poorly described time and place, follows Noemi, a young girl who refuses to help her family. Follow this brave woman as she goes to High Place, an english manor set high in the mexican highlands. Here she meets the equivalent of the Addam's family and that's where we step in to give it the ol' Remedial Lit feel.

About Remedial Lit

From the publisher's feed

A few friends read some books and tell some inappropriate jokes. Occasionally, some of the riffs are actually funny. Along the way we unintentionally review a novel or two.
