Rumor has it the upcoming iPhone 12 will finally — markdown double asterisk finally — have 5G radios. Sub 6, maybe even Sub 9 on the mini and regular 12, and mmWave on the Pro and Max. That’s low-band and mid-band, or FR 1, and high-band, or FR 2.

But, what does all of that jargon even mean? In general… and for the vast majority of people in the real world thinking of buying and using it?

If you need a new iPhone now, should you get the iPhone SE right now, or should you try and hold out for the rumored smaller iPhone 12 coming later this fall?

And… how much later this year might that be exactly?

Last week, I made a video about 4K YouTube finally coming to the Apple TV… and the iPhone and iPad as well. Kinda. Maybe…

And… it prompted a ton of other questions about why YouTube is just so damn quirky on Apple products… and in general.

Everything from how links open… or don’t, why picture-in-picture and hand-off work in Safari but not the app, why notifications don't come in, and more.

So, let’s answer all that.

The lawsuits are over. The drama has ended. It’s 2020 and Apple and Qualcomm have finally buried their legal hatchets — at least enough to work together on bringing 5G modems to the iPhone 12 this fall.

Almost certainly. We think. Look… listen.. it’s complicated.

And here’s why…

The first Apple Silicon Mac system will be coming this year. And… while it may or may not be a new 12-inch MacBook Air… I kinda all shades of want it to be a new 12-inch MacBook Air.

Yeah, I said what I said. Here’s why.

With the next-generation iPad Air rumored to be getting the same design and even display as the iPad Pro…

The feud is over. The codec war… has ended. It’s 2020 and me, you, we — all of us! — can finally watch 4K YouTube on the Apple TV, iPhone, and iPad. Finally.

Almost. Maybe.

Some tech nerds in some comment sections just keep saying if Apple doesn’t bring a high refresh display to the iPhone 12, well, then they’re not bringing the iPhone 12 home.

DED. Done. RIP.

And the other 99 out of 100 people are saying… a high what now?

So, what is 120Hz, what’s so good about it, what are the problems with it, will Apple actually ship it with the iPhone12, and will the market care either way?
