  • Has compassion fatigue made us less charitable?

Compassion fatigue is something which affects care professions in particular - you can reach a point where you "just can't care anymore".  This is often because you've been giving and giving and giving with little return or time for yourself, and you have nothing left.  Unfortunately it is something that can affect all of us when we have been in "survival mode" for a long time (especially in 2 years of a global pandemic).  This podcast will give you ways you can introduce more self compassion, empowerment, and a reminder that kindness isn't always about giving, sometimes it's knowing when to stand down.

  • GUEST EXPERT: Diane Danzebrink - we need to talk about menopause

First aired on NLive Radio's "The Wellbeing Lounge", Diane Danzebrink of menopausesupport.co.uk – Supporting You Through Change talks about how menopause is more than a hot flush.  Our mental health can be affected, which in turn can lead to misdiagnosis - and given that menopause affects half the population - and in many ways also the other half who are sometimes at a loss to know how to support partners, colleagues or friends - normalising conversation around it is just the start.

Diane is also my special guest on this week's Wellbeing Lounge for International Women's Day where we discuss periods and period poverty: The Wellbeing Lounge - NLive Radio (8/3/22 show)

  • Making friends as an adult

Martin Seligman said while friendship doesn't guarantee happiness, happiness is not often found without it. We meet people all time time, but how many of them remain constant...and then for how long?  Friendships of the "just passing through" nature can be as wonderful as the longer-term "Put the world to rights at 3am" type... and opportunities for both can occur every day - but are we forgetting how to get started?

  • How's your financial health?

For a long time financial wellbeing has been the poor relation (pun very much intended) of other forms of wellbeing.  This podcast reflects on how our mental health can be related to our money behaviours.

  • GUEST EXPERT: Robin Burgess, The Hope Centre on the 'business' of being homeless

A damning Channel 4 report said - if you don't suffer from mental health issues, try being homeless.  Contrary to mental ill health being the CAUSE of homelessness, the deterioration of our mental and emotional strength can easily happen THROUGH it...add to that the internalisation of others' judgments and all too easily you can begin to feel this is all you amount to.

First aired on NLive Radio, Robin Burgess, CEO of Hope Enterprises, speaks to me about the issues surrounding homelessness and the little things we can do to offer compassion, empowerment and hope to those who do not have a constant home.

  • 'Living with' diabetes

This is less an episode about how diabetes affects my family, and more about how when there is a diagnosis, it has an impact on EVERYONE'S life. Don't be afraid to reach out yourself, to seek respite, to join groups of people who are going through something similar with loved ones... And ask questions, learn, even raise awareness, in your 'new normal'
