Welcome to another episode of Returning: A podcast to return to yourself and the wisdom within. In this episode we get curious about how long it takes to heal. Often we have to release the timelines on healing in order for that healing to truly arrive.

This episode grew out of an insightful chat I had with a friend all about the frustration we feel when we’re trying so hard to shift a pattern or release a behavior or forgive a relationship but just… can’t… quite… get there. Despite our best intentions and devoted commitment to ‘doing the work’ - often we have to release the timelines on healing in order for that healing to truly arrive. Zooming out and holding the bigger picture, we’re reminded that there are often more cogs that need to turn than just our own in order for the true healing to happen.

This is such a common question that I get asked, and it’s definitely something I have experienced for myself. Today I share with you a poem which I wrote during the extreme times of 2020. A time so many of us are still processing. I’d just given birth to my first child and life was changing so deeply, so fast, in so many ways. The world was in a state of chaos like we’d never known and I felt deeply attuned to the intense, collective suffering we were all experiencing. And yet, the experience of birthing of my son had shown me the agony and ecstasy of new beginnings – the raw power of surrendering to sacred pain and life unfolding… This poem speaks from that place – and is a prayer for your healing, your wholeness, the medicine of your inner seasons. May you know how held you are.
