Nick takes us back to first grade, where a long-simmering hatred for a kid named Brian finally meets its moment: one perfectly timed, absolutely nuclear soccer kick straight to the face. The result? Blood everywhere, Brian snot-crying, and a missing permanent tooth. Justice is served, consequences are not.

Evelyn counters with two crimes of her own: first, running over her sister with a bike hard enough to embed gravel in her butt cheeks and somehow not taking the fall, and second, executing a senior skip day so clean it involved using her piano exam as an alibi, despite visible sunburn evidence. 

Canada commits its chaos quietly (and without UV protection, apparently), and  America launches it right at your face...and somehow both systems reward the same thing: confidence and a straight (sometimes sunburned) face.

Episode 44 is what happens when two people try to be kind… and instead create lifelong emotional damage for someone never to be seen again.

Evelyn shares the story of sponsoring a young child in Indonesia and doing her absolute best to keep things simple, relatable, and culturally sensitive… only to accidentally step right in it and create the worst possible threat for any 5 year old's beloved family pet: I'm going to eat you.

Nick follows with a story from his teenage years working at a theme park, where a well-intentioned restaurant recommendation lands with a thud he’s never been able to forget. What he meant as helpful was received as something else entirely, and the moment has been living rent-free in his brain ever since.

Together, Nick and Evelyn unpack the quiet chaos of good intentions gone wrong, the weird permanence of small social misfires, and the deeply human experience of realizing (often years later) that you might have been the accidental villain.

Episode 43 of the RJP brings us the most dangerous thing Nick has ever brought to the podcast: 

Preparation.

Inspired by Evelyn’s Canadian citizenship test, Nick unveils a game called American or Canadian, where Evelyn must identify whether a suspiciously flattering bio belongs to an American or Canadian public figure. Simple enough, right? WRONG. 

By the end, various American's and Canadian's reputations has been dragged kicking and scream through the Tim Hortons parking lot, and Evelyn scores just high enough to feel both proud and personally victimized.

It’s trivia with a side order of sabotage...holding a Bob Barker microphone.

Root doot doot, it's episode 42! We begin with Evelyn introducing Nick to one of Canada’s most beloved national heroes: Terry Fox, the 21-year-old Canadian who attempted to run across the country on one leg to raise money for cancer research. Nick, somehow, has never heard of him. Canadians across the country and shocked...and "the square provinces" don't know what to do with themselves.

From there, Evelyn asks what the Nick Bognar version of the Marathon of Hope would be, and Nick offers the only logical answer: a long-distance walk to 7-11 fuelled by enormous sodas, unexpected hugs with strangers, and a surprisingly sincere vision of mutual care.

Nick turns the question on Evelyn and asks what her charity walk would be named. She imagines her own fundraising sacrifice: high-fat dairy meets a Friday-before-a-long-weekend Costco trip. Truly the kind of public endurance event that could permanently reduce London, Ontario to one usable Costco for a few days, at least.

Canada gives us Terry Fox. America gives us the Double Gulp Walk for Community Harmony. And somewhere between the two countries, diplomacy barks in the distance.

We’re getting medical on episode 41 of the Reverse Jackass podcast!

Nick takes us inside his first colonoscopy experience, from pre-procedure dread to the unexpected joy of waking up peacefully drugged, pain-free, and newly in possession of a full-colour photo album of his own pristine colon. He also offers a surprisingly sincere PSA: get your colonoscopy, especially if colon cancer runs in your family. It’s less horrifying than your imagination wants it to be.

Evelyn counters with her own scope story, including the Canadian version where you’re apparently awake enough to watch your own insides on screen and think, “Wow, that’s my bum.” From there, the conversation spirals into ranking drugs of choice: colonoscopy bliss, Ativan, Pasadena, gluten-free orange polenta cake, and buttered panettone eaten over the kitchen sink like a total trash goblin.

America gives you glossy colon photos for the fridge; Canada gives you partial consciousness and no souvenir. Somehow, both countries still agree: that little hospital nap? Five stars.

We’re back at Château Reverse Jackass with an episode that begins as a casual debrief and quickly becomes a formal complaint against Raise Your Voice, starring Hillary Duff, John Corbett, and several deeply disturbing choices about music education.

Nick recounts the cinematic abuse of watching the movie after Evelyn recommended it, including the suspiciously church-camp energy. Evelyn, having caused the damage, mostly sits back and enjoys the carnage.

Naturally, this leads to Evelyn having reflections on Saskatchewan.

Evelyn explains that Saskatchewan lives between worlds because it refuses to participate in daylight savings time like a normal province, and then asks Nick which American state feels most like Raise Your Voice. Nick, after briefly considering Virginia and Louisiana, lands on Oklahoma with the assurance that everything he says makes him sound worse and worse.

Somewhere out there, a dog barks in the distance, Hillary Duff is still singing, and John Corbett's menacing a cello.

What starts as a simple intro somehow immediately turns into a low-grade workplace dispute, complete with accusations of neglect, passive aggression, emotional damage, and a shocking amount of nostril flaring. Evelyn and Nick spend the opening minutes sounding less like co-hosts and more like two middle managers trapped in a very small boardroom.

Eventually, underneath all the fake hostility, Evelyn shares a story about how one of the things she loved most, music, also became the reason she got dragged into a deeply unwanted long-distance phone friendship with a girl in New Zealand, courtesy of her grandfather. In response, Nick tells a college story about being the one responsible person in a dorm crisis, only to have his moral compass ruin his romantic evening in record time.

Both sides of the Canada-U.S. border can agree on this one thing: sometimes the very thing that makes you you is also the thing that causes the trouble.

Episode 45 begins with Nick bringing an actual American icon to the table: George Washington Carver, scientific genius, agricultural legend, and longtime cornerstone of Nick's mother's first-grade curriculum.

Nick explains how his mother’s students carefully copied “George Washington Carver” from the board, then absolutely freelanced the word “peanuts” into something far less classroom-safe. A tribute to innovation quickly becomes a transitional first grade disasterpiece.

Evelyn, unfortunately, is severely allergic to peanuts, which leads to a moving deathbed monologue in which she thanks Mr. Carver for his contributions while gently asking whether he ever considered almonds (a nut she can enjoy).

The conversation takes a sharp right, a sharp left, and almost lands in the ditch as, for the first time in Reverse Jackass history, Nick and Evelyn try on 3 different question prompts before landing on one that Evelyn has the brain power left to answer. 

Somehow Canadian Tire’s Frank mascot enters the conversation as Canada’s possible answer to George Washington Carver. Let's just agree that the peanut lives on. Frank’s gummies do not. And who the heck even knows where we are on the diplomacy-o-meter anymore...

Today on the RJP, Evelyn crawls out of a real-life pit of despair the least dramatic way possible: one small choice at a time. It starts with a last-minute manicure, turns into a “whimsy audit,” and becomes a full-on experiment in seeing her current life through the eyes of younger Evelyn. Tiny, practical proof that the story isn’t just “sad,” even when it feels like it.

Nick jumps in with his own “younger me would never believe this” list. They talk about the weird tenderness of aging: how weather stops being romantic and starts being…joint pain and headaches, and how what feels “cool” shifts from big milestones to tiny comforts that keep you afloat.

The moral of the story is: If your side of the border feels heavy right now, borrow a little ridiculous joy from your neighbo(u)r. Even if it’s just a manicure you can’t stop staring at.
