Jesus recognized the times and the necessity that he must go to Jerusalem. He knew His destiny. He was determined. Anything that gets in His way on his journey was a distraction. The enemy is always seeking to distract Jesus and distract us from accomplishing God's purposes. It is important to stay focused. Are we operating in a spirit of distraction that leads us away from God's plans for us? Do we recognize the schemes of distraction from the enemy? Do we see God's plans and determine to follow through on those? Pastor Todd leads us to focus on what God's has for us and for His Kingdom.

We must leave our past if we are to move into our future. We cannot move into our destiny unless we leave our history. God Told Joshua "No man will be able to stand before you all the days of your life. I will not fail you nor forsake you." Then we read that Rahab in Jericho says that all the men of the city are afraid of the people of God because of what they had heard about them. How strong would our faith be if we heard that our enemy was already afraid of us? God was preparing the way for Joshua and Joshua had to learn to Trust. God already knows that you will succeed before he sends you.

We must leave our past if we are to move into our future. We cannot move into our destiny unless we leave our history. As the people of Israel were leaving Egypt they were fleeing captivity but then there was change in their identity. They became the people of God moving forward into a new destiny as free people. They had to leave their history and move into their destiny. This is a type of soul change. A change in how they saw themselves. Some resisted this change while some embraced it. That resistance based on attachment to their history caused them to wander around for 40 years until that generation with their attachments died out. Only those who did not cling to the old history remained. We need to learn this lesson from the people of Israel. God moves His people and provides for them. Maybe we need to learn not to grumble and complain and stop clinging to the old ways of doing things.

Are you carrying around a bitterness that Jesus wants you to let go of? How did that happen? Has someone offended or harmed you in some way? Isn't it somehow unfair that they haven't paid a price for that? Does that make you angry? Jesus teaches us to forgive others but isn't that too much to ask from us? How is it that the other person is going on well with their lives while we still suffer with the memory and feelings of that hurt or offense? Doesn't the bitterness of that situation harm us? How can we get free and get healed from our bitterness? Pastor Todd shares with us from the Word of God how we can find freedom and healing from our anger and bitterness.

Do you see yourself as an emotional person? Do you sometimes hear that you shouldn't be so emotional? Have you heard some Christians say that those Charismatic people are so emotional? Who hasn't heard sermons where the truth of God is contrasted with our emotions? How did it happen that our emotions became negative or bad? Doesn't God have emotions? Isn't there joy in heaven when someone comes to Christ? Pastor Todd brings healing to our hearts and freedom to walk as complete people with emotions.

Have you tried putting controls on your life to change your behavior? Biblically, should you beat yourself up for sin in your life? Is it ok to live like the world because God's grace covers our sin? Once we get ahold of our identity as believers and how we deal with sin, we can walk through life in a victorious way instead of a defeated way. How do our beliefs affect our choices? Why do we keep going back to the same behaviors we have been trying to avoid? Are we slaves? Pastor Todd explains what it means to be enslaved by sin or by righteousness.

What does it mean to be righteous? Does my behavior determine my identity? Shouldn't my identity determine my behavior? What would it mean to you if you truly believed that you are righteous? Does sin make me unrighteous? Are we really just a "sinner saved by grace?" Pastor Todd leads us through scripture to show us our identity as righteous children of the most high God. If we walk in our identity as righteous everything changes. We are unburdened from guilt and shame. We have liberty.

Why does repentance matter? On Pentecost, the people asked Peter, "What must we do to be saved?". Peter replied that they must "Repent and be baptized". Is it about feeling sorry for something we have done? Is it only about changing our minds like we might change our mind about what to wear or what to eat? Is it a guilt trip? Pastor Todd leads us through the Word of God to discover what repentance really means in God's eyes. This is not burdensome. It is transformational and liberating.

Some times in our lives we just need a good "shaking" to get our attention. Sometimes we need a good shaking to get us out of the mode of thinking that we are in and into a better one. Sometimes we need a good shaking to think clearly and change the path that we are on. Shaking is God's way of removing things that do not belong like shaking a blanket to rid it of things that do not belong on it, so that things that do belong may remain. He has plans to correct the things in our lives by shaking us. It's God's way of cleaning house, of ridding our lives of the things that are harmful to us so that things that He has for us may remain. We can mistake this shaking as though God is mad at us. Pastor Todd takes us into the scripture to show us how this shaking is God's way of helping us grow into newness of life.
