Rewatchability

Watch your neck, this week we sit down with INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE! Brad Pitt! Tom Cruise sucking blood! Tiny Kirsten Dunst with the cutest little fangs! Our old pal Johnnie Walker joins us to chat Lestat, Brad Pitt and gay vampires. We were intrigued by this timeless vampire epic when we were younger, but how does it hold for one who will never grow old, having tasted the blood of damned?

Grab your suit of home-made armor, because this week we're going down under with RECKLESS KELLY! An update/re-imaging of Australian folk hero Ned Kelly, written, directed and starring Australia's premiere auteur Yahoo Serious, this film re-introduced the world to the charms of Australian comedy while making a pointed message about the dangers of guns and Hollywood violence. And of course, Hugo Weaving is the baddie, so that's pretty fun as well.

This movie confused and delighted us when we were younger, but how does it hold up now?

Starting to cool off, so we get try to get one last vacation in discussing WHAT ABOUT BOB?, the classic comedy starring the Richard Dreyfuss as a arrogant therapist and Bill Murray as his needy patient who shows up to his vacation spot to make his life a living nightmare. Also starring Julia Hargarty, Charlie Korsmo and Katherine Erbe, this movie made us crazy with laughter when we were younger, but how does it hold up now?

Get out that long coat, fall is coming and this week we fall in with THE LOST BOYS! Directed by Joel Schumacher and starring Jason Patric, Kiefer Sutherland, Coreys Haim and Feldman, The Lost Boys takes the fears and anxieties of the 1980s and gives them fangs. This movie made it sexy to be a creature of the night, but how does it hold up now?

It's back to school, but I don't care about history, so we're plugging into the SCHOOL OF ROCK! Directed by Richard Linklater (Dazed & Confused, Boyhood) and starring Jack Black at his Jack Blackiest, it's the story of one man who dared to dream a dream of rock, and the children he thrust into greatness! Also starring Joan Cusack, Sarah Silverman and Mike White (who also wrote the screenplay), this movie rocked us harder than an Angus Young power chord, but how does it hold up in these totally un-rocking-times?

We're off this week, but we wouldn't leave you hanging, so we proudly present the live episode we recorded at the Hot Docs Podcast Festival where we screened the classic Edgar Wright horror/comedy SHAUN OF THE DEAD! Joining us for a pint is our old pal Alexandra West (Faculty of Horror)!

The second half of the program is a compilation of some of "The Best Of The Guests", featuring some of the fantastic folks who have shown up over the years including Anne Donahue, Todd Van Allen and Tommy Chong! We'll be back to our regularly scheduled program next week!

It's hot outside, so this week we cool off with a tall glass of Bobby Boucher in THE WATERBOY! Yes, it's the classic Adam Sandler sports comedy also featuring Kathy Bates, Fairuza Balk and Henry Winkler about a humble who learns to channel his anger and rage and really hurt some people! Also featuring a guy who looks like Colonel Sanders and Rob Schneider, who sucks, saying "You can do it!"

Obviously we loved it when we were younger, but how does it hold up now that we've grown into water men?

Who watches the WATCHMEN? We do! Even better we rewatch the WATCHMEN! In anticipation of HBO's upcoming adaptation, we revisit Zack Snyder's 2009 sprawling superhero epic starring Billy Crudup, Patrick Wilson, Malin Akerman, Jackie Earle Haley and a whole bunch of other people who probably wish they'd held off on doing the whole superhero thing until they'd figured out the multi-movie universe deal. Alan Moore hates it, it divided fans and critics alike, but how does it hold up today?

This week we've got the blues, specifically the MIAMI BLUES, starring Alec Baldwin, Fred Ward and Jennifer Jason Leigh! About a zany sociopath who robs criminals, Miami Blues is a '90s neo-noir that shows the "path not taken" in crime films after Tarantino came in and blew everything away. Norm Wilner, Now Magazine critic and host of Someone Else Movie joins us to champion this film from George Armitage, but what do we think of it?

Get your motor running, this week we heed our need for speed with THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS! Just as the Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson starring spin-off, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, revs its engine in cinemas, we look under the hood of the original starring Paul Walker as (shhh!) an undercover cop trying to infiltrate a drag racing group of thieves headed by Vin Diesel. This movie was too fast for us when it first hit the road, but how does it hold up now?
