Today I’m talking nerdy about neurodiversity with Alex Martynowicz. In today’s conversation, Alex breaks down for us what neurodiversity is, the rise in neurodivergent diagnoses like ADHD and ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), the difference between neurodivergent awareness and supportive action, and how neurotypical individuals can foster a greater environment of inclusivity and celebration.
Alex is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and yoga teacher, working with neurodivergent teens at a middle school through Acceptance and Commitment Training, yoga, mindfulness, and breathwork. Her neurodivergent-affirming practices aim to empower her students and give them tools to show up authentically, reduce anxiety, and live in a way that is in alignment with their own values.
Alex is also a graduate of my neuroscience-based Breathwork + Meditation Teacher Training which we reference in this episode.

In this conversation with Mona Anand, we break down what the ancient practice of Yoga Nidra is, Non-Sleep Deep Relaxation, how it differs from other forms of meditation and hypnotherapy, its power to release and heal subconscious and unconscious blocks, memories, and stuck emotions, as well as create an expanded state of consciousness.
Mona is a co-owner of ISHTA Yoga, a yogiraj or yoga master in the ISHTA lineage and the teacher training director of ISHTA’s world renowned teacher training programs.
She is most passionate about and best known for her work in the field of yoga nidra. Mona was first introduced to yoga nidra as a teenager growing up in Mumbai, India. Today I’m talking nerdy with Jonathan Bowles on taking a leap of faith and how to get out of your head and into your heart. In today’s conversation, Jonathan and I are going to step away from the science for a moment and into the practical: what does it actually take to recondition your relationship with fear in such a way that it can exist without holding you back from creating a life beyond your wildest dreams?
Jonathan is a motivational speaker, professional encourager, coach, and lovingly known as the pastor of disaster. He left a 16 year career in the evangelical megachurch to start his own company, Slingshot House, that now helps develop and launch the dreams of people all over the world.
I wanted to bring Jonathan on to talk with me about living fearlessly because I recently recorded an episode on the anatomy of fear (episode 7) and Jonathan is the person that I personally call whenever I need a pep talk before taking a leap of faith.
If you loved this style of episode, send me a DM @alex_nashton and let me know. If you hated this style of episode, send me a DM and let me know. I want to be recording episodes that are supportive and inspiring for you and I promise my little perfectionistic heart will be able to handle the feedback.

Today’s guest has been one of the single most influential people in my own life and mental health. In this conversation, we talk about the most common dysfunctional and unhelpful patterns of thinking and behavior that people struggle with, the difference between desire and motivation in creating lasting change, what stops people from changing, and the skills that are necessary for psychological health and resilience.
Dr. Raymond Bepko has been a practicing psychotherapist in New York State since 1978. He is presently in private practice in the central New York area. His practice encompasses traditional emotional and behavioral issues including depression, anxiety, trauma, and adjustment to life events. Dr. Bepko specifically uses mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral therapy to help his patients recover from and transcend mood disorders, pain, illness, injury, addiction, and trauma, and to develop and practice the specific attitudes, skills, and behaviors central to physical and psychological wellness.
Dr. Bepko has also been my personal therapist for the last 8 years and who I lovingly refer to as the Robin Williams to my Good Will Hunting.

In this solo episode with Alex, we’ll dive into how your brain learns and unlearns fear, the difference between healthy fear and anxiety, the role that your amygdala and autonomic nervous system play in your fear response, and 4 key practices you can start using today to work through your own anxiety. Not only will Alex break down what brain regions and neural pathways are associated with fear, but how you can use a conceptual understanding of this neuroscience to create actionable steps towards change.

Today I’m talking nerdy with Ashley Weller on the science and psychology of attachment styles. Your attachment style is one of the most important, if not the most important factor in how you show up and sustain relationships. Today we’re delving into where they come from in terms of formative childhood and relational experiences, how they influence your relationship behaviors as an adult, and how you can change them.
PSA 🚨 If you are finding yourself in unhealthy or unhelpful relationship patterns, Ashley and I are going to talk about how you can become increasingly secure.
Not only does this episode cover how we attach and form bonds with other humans, but Ashley will also teach you about the attachment bonds we form with other conceptual and physical entities, like money.
Ashley is a Health Psychology and Human Sexuality Professor, she hosts a sex positive show called "What's Your Position?" that focuses on health, wellness, relationships, mental health and all things sex. Sex and sex positivity are discussed at length in this episode so this is your little warning in case you are tuning in around sensitive or young ears. In addition to being an engaging and delightful podcast host, Ashley also has her Masters in Health Psychology and has been lecturing about sex and sexuality since 2013.
