As someone who is directionally challenged, I am so incredibly grateful to have a husband who knows how to find his way pretty much anywhere. That's because we are so much LESS likely to need the Maps app or to get lost.
Jesus doesn't just TELL us the way to God or to heaven. He doesn't just SHOW us the way. Jesus IS the way.
When we are lost, He is the way. When we are stumbling around in darkness and confusion, He is the Truth that lights the way. When we just feel DEAD inside, Jesus is LIFE ITSELF. Jesus is the WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE, and no one comes to the Father, but by Him!

July 03, 2023 From My Funk to Yours: Let's Be Healed (A Lagniappe Edition)
Sometimes we get the blues.
Sometimes those blues turn into a deeper funk.
Sometimes that funk becomes a depression.
And sometimes - the worst of times - that depression can morph into seasons of despair, crushing anxiety, and deep darkness.
But the fact of the matter is, God has never meant for us to live in darkness, EVER. In fact, as I keep saying over and over again to myself and to others these days, 1 Peter 2:9 says, "But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light." Catch that - we are called OUT of darkness and into His MARVELOUS light.
The key I believe to walking and staying in the light is this sadly lost art of confession. We have forgotten what it means largely to confess our sins, and as a result, we are forfeiting the great FREEDOM to be found as a result. James 5:16 says, "Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much." June 26, 2023 Jesus: I Am The Resurrection and the Life
Have you ever been so consumed with sorrow that you began believing lies you simply KNEW were lies? That was the situation I found myself in as I prepared to record this week’s program on Jesus, the Resurrection and the Life.

In John 11:25-26, Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” These words give me - and each of us - not only eternal life but also fullness of life here and now. Jesus has come so that we need not be consumed by depression and darkness that inevitably visit us all. Jesus comes that we may be resurrected and that we may have new life!!

June 19, 2023 A Christian without Christ? (A Lagniappe Episode)
We all have low points in our walk with the Lord, but do we find ourselves faking it most of the time?
This week, I spent time with young people at Cross Camp, and we grappled with real questions of whether we are PRETENDING in our Christian life.
Do we raise our hands in worship, but our hearts aren't in it?
Do we serve in ministry, but only because it is expected of us?
Do we go to Bible studies and conferences, but only so that we don't lose face for NOT going?
In this episode, I explore our tendency to try to be Christians without Christ, and I take a look at Jesus 'words in Matthew 15:7-9:
"Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying:
‘These people [c]draw near to Me with their mouth,And honor Me with their lips,But their heart is far from Me.And in vain they worship Me,Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ ”

June 12, 2023 Jesus: I Am the Door and the Good Shepherd
Jesus said, "I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture" (John 10:9) and “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep" (John 10:11).
In these passages we see that Jesus offers His people a picture of true Biblical freedom, where we can come in and out, and find pasture, where we live free, because He has given His life for us.

During Hurricane Ida and the weeks that followed, I learned many critical lessons as we lived without electricity.
One of the most important lessons we learned is that many things lurk in the dark - and in fact, many things can GROW in the dark - namely, ugly, harmful black mold. Which leads me to the question - what is growing in our dark?
Today we read, "Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, ‘I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life’” (John 8:12).
What is the significance of Jesus being the light of the world? What does it mean to WALK in the light?
