  • He Knows My Name: Mary Magdalene

    Mary.

When Jesus says her name - Mary - it changes EVERYTHING.

Why?  Why does Jesus calling Mary by name matter so very much?

    Isaiah 43:1 explains,

"But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob,

And He who formed you, O Israel:
    “Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
    I have called you by your name;
    You are Mine."

Mary Magdalene belongs to Jesus, and thus, she need not fear!

Join me as we explore Mary Magdalene - her devotion to Jesus, her time with Jesus, and how He knows her (and each of us) by name.

  • Managing the Misunderstandings: Martha and Mary of Bethany

The lives of the two sisters from Bethany, Martha and Mary, are replete with lessons for us, lessons on managing misunderstandings, on bringing our disappointments to God, and so much more.

On today's episode, we look at these two friends of Jesus' and as we do, we learn how He invites us to sit at His feet and worship, and learn from Him as Mary did.  As we do, we prevent so much of our most common anxieties by getting our priorities in order.  It is a fitting lesson for me personally, as I chased skittles around my pantry and was in much need of reminding to keep my priorities straight!

Mary and Martha of Bethany, on today's episode of Rinse and Repeat!

  • I Am So Tired of Pretending. Who Am I Really? (A Lagniappe Edition)
I recently had the privilege of meeting up with a young lady who asked me one of the most honest questions I have been asked in a long time.  She said.
"Everyone talks about our identity in Christ.  But what does that EVEN mean?"
I loved her honesty, and I really explored God's Word for answers!  My definition for our identity in Christ is this: “1) who God says we are in His Word and 2) what He has called us to do as empowered by His Spirit.”
Join me for this lagniappe edition of the program, as I explore lessons from the lives of Gideon and Moses and draw a key conclusion:
We look at our weaknesses and say, “Who am I?”   God looks at your weaknesses and says, WHO AM I?

  • Tale of Two Daughters
Sometimes, something happens, and you just think, “This is it.  This is the end.  I will never…” and then you fill in the blanks…
"I will never get married.  I will never finish my college degree.  I will never get a good job..."
Things can happen that we deem the END, but that’s not how things work in God’s economy.
Things that spell the end with us are often just the beginning with God.
And so it is with the tale of TWO daughters today.  One woman struggled with the flow of blood for 12 years, and a young girl died at 12 years of age.  Both faced an end, then Jesus shows up on the scene, and changed EVERYTHING.
Join me in Mark 5:21 as we explore the end, that was only the beginning!

  • Do You See This Woman? The Sinful Woman in Luke 7

Today's woman of the Bible changed my life.  She is one of the first women I ever taught, and her journey challenged me in EVERY single way.

She went where she would be hated - scorned - misunderstood... WHY?

    BECAUSE JESUS WAS THERE!!!!

Turn your Bible to Luke 7, and be as challenged as I am today!!

  • Perseverance and Patience: Anna
“Some souls are developed by watching and waiting and abiding God’s time.”
These words, spoken about Charlotte Maria Tucker, today’s contemporary woman of the Bible, also apply perfectly to the prophetess Anna.  Anna watched.  She waited.  She abided.  And God rewarded her faithfulness.  She got to see the long-awaited Messiah!
We may grow weary as we pray for the same things, seemingly over and over, but Anna’s story teaches us that God hears prayer, just as He heard Zaccarias and Elizabeth!
Join me as we are encouraged to remain faithful to pray and serve God, as Anna did, while we await His answers to prayer!

  • God in our Waiting: Elizabeth
Have you ever waited for something for so long - prayed for so long - that you simply believed God wasn't hearing you?
Today we turn to our first NEW TESTAMENT woman of the Bible, as we explore the life of Elizabeth, the relative of Mary and mother of John the Baptist.  Elizabeth was unable to have children for so long, and what she did while she waited is incredibly instructive for each of us.  Elizabeth remained faithful to God, despite the reproach she faced because of her infertility.
Join me as we turn to this first Rinse and Repeat episode of 2023!

  • Let It Be to Me (Part Two)
As I complete my message on Mary's response to the angel's proclamation, I pray that we approach the New Year and all that God has for us with the same hopeful submission that Mary had.
Even when His direction leads us into unknown places and to do things we didn't think we ever could, can our response still be, "Lord let it be to me, according to Your word."?

  • Let It Be to Me (Part One)
It’s been said that perhaps the greatest humiliation Jesus faced wasn't the cross, but rather, the incarnation.  The Creator of all allowed Himself to be born of parents whom He Himself created.  He allowed Himself to experience hunger, thirst, exhaustion, every single human emotion in order to take on human form and save our souls…
This Christmas I am meditating on the purpose of the incarnation, as you will hear in the opening of today's podcast.  I also wanted to share a message I have shared with you before, considering Mary's great submission to God's plans as captured in her words, "let it be to me according to your word."
Merry Christmas and much love to y'all, from each of us here at Rinse and Repeat!
