  • Lord Help Me: Woman Loosed of Infirmity
What would happen if we forgot about ourselves and what we can’t do, and remember what GOD is capable of doing?
What would happen if Christians trusted God enough to be bold about their faith? To face spiritual enemies armed with spiritual weapons? To stand up for truth?
Today, as we conclude our study on the women of the Bible, we turn to the woman loosed of her infirmity, and we see that Jesus was willing to stand up to the religious leaders of His day in order to do what was right. We also see a woman once in bondage set free, a freedom we all can experience through the healing power of Jesus!
Turn with me to Luke, Chapter 13 as we explore the remarkable story of healing and God's deliverance of all who experience spiritual oppression!

  • Will You Give Up? The Faith of the Syro-Phoenician Woman
When faced with opposition and obstacles, are we tempted to quit? To throw our hands up and say- nah, this isn't working? Praying doesn't work! Living a life of faith just doesn't work!
Today on the program we look at a woman's faith that was severely tested. Jesus did not give her what she asked for the first time she asked, and she persisted and remained worshipful in her asking. What happens next changes everything!
Join me as we explore the next woman of the Bible, the Syro-Phoenician woman, as we learn great lessons on persevering faith!

  • Watch Who Your Friends Are: Tamar in Genesis
"It's not that big of a deal," a teen might tell her parents.
"Everyone's doing it," another may say.
"My friend's parents let her. Why do you have to be so strict about EVERYTHING?!?"
These are just a few of the things Christian parents may hear while raising kids - and while much of it is normal, it raises some questions.
Who are our kids hanging out with?
Who are WE hanging out with?
Today's woman of the Bible is Tamar (in Genesis) and her sad story starts with Judah deciding to hang out with the WRONG people. Who our friends are MATTERS. It IS a big deal, as we will soon see.
Turn your Bibles to Genesis 38 for this episode of Rinse and Repeat.

  • Don't Be Fake: The Faith of Phoebe, Eunice, and Lois

On today's program, we learn from the example of three women from Paul's epistles, Phoebe, Eunice, and Lois. Phoebe, the great servant and helper described in Romans 16, meant the world to Paul. Eunice and Lois, Timothy's mother and grandmother, offer models of how to train up a child in the ways of the Lord.

One key verse is critically important for all of us in today's study. It is Paul speaking of Timothy in 2 Timothy 1:5, "when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also." Eunice and Lois modeled a faith that wasn't fake, a faith that was genuine, without hypocrisy, a faith that was willing to admit error, a faith we would do well to model.

  • Don't Judge!! Or Rather, Do!

On today's lagniappe edition of the program, I share personal stories from 20 years ago and just this past week, as I teach on what Jesus meant when He said, "Judge not, lest you be judged." Today's program will include terms like homosexuality, lesbian, and same-sex attraction (younger and sensitive listeners are cautioned). My greatest prayer is that we will learn what God's Word says about how Christians are to exercise good, godly judgment.

Most importantly, let’s remember that the church is a HOSPITAL where the sick come to meet the Great Physician. So let’s not expect people to look, act, or sound the way we want them to - but rather let’s point people to Jesus, and pray for wisdom and discernment when speaking to others, especially those caught up in sin.

Hold onto your hats for this lagniappe edition of RaR!!!

  • Talents upon Talents for the King: Priscilla
One writer tried to give Priscilla a title, and it went something like this:
Christ follower, Tent Maker, Teacher, Encourager, Home Church Hostess & Leader, Devoted Wife of Aquila, and Faithful friend to Paul.
To that title, I would add based on Romans 13:3-4: Paul’s heroic life-saver!
Today we embark on the study of a woman of MANY talents, and with that study, we explore the many roles that women play, both in Scripture and today.  On the program, I frequently refer to Titus 2:3-5 which says, “the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things— that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed.”
As one of those older women myself, I urge women who are married with children to prioritize their families, even as they serve God in the church and their communities if they work outside the home.  I share testimonies from my life, from the life of Elisabeth Eliot, but especially looking at the great example of Priscilla, who, with her husband, taught Apollos, hosted a home church, and offered up her great many talents to the service of her King.  Priscilla and her husband Aquilla are always mentioned together as quite the dynamic duo, and they offer us a great example of how a strong Biblical marriage can reflect Christ and the church!
Join me today, for a REMARKABLE woman, Priscilla.

  • Leaving an Unforgettable Legacy: Tabitha (Dorcas)
What kind of legacy are we leaving?  How will they remember us?
Today, we will learn not one, but TWO stories of resuscitation.  And, we will explore the life of a woman who leaves behind a legacy of faithful service and love, even though not one word she spoke was ever recorded.
Join me as we study Tabitha, today on Rinse and Repeat.

  • Faithful to the Lord: Lydia
A seller of purple, a successful businesswoman, and a persuasive individual, Lydia offers us several valuable lessons on today's episode.  We learn NOT to be self-sufficient, we learn about the importance of encouragement, and so much more.
Today, we also glean the introduction of the remarkable story of Lillian Trasher, missionary to Egypt.  This woman stepped out by faith, and learned that indeed,
“There is no end to what you can do if you follow God’s call and trust Him to take care of the rest.”
Two remarkable women, today on Rinse and Repeat.

  • Do God’s Work God’s Way: Sapphira
One of the most significant aspects of our current Women of the Bible series is that we don't just study the "good girls" of the Bible, but also those who made some cataclysmic mistakes so that we can LEARN from them!  Today's lesson on Sapphira in Acts 5 is just such an example.
Someone once said, "Once the love of money takes possession of a person, there is no evil that he cannot or will not do."  Sapphira and her husband Ananias loved money and were willing to lie to God and the church in order to hold onto it, all while seeming incredibly self-sacrificing.
Today's program allows us to examine the motivations behind not just our giving, but all of our acts of service.  Do we do what we do to be seen by others, and to be applauded?   This lesson also offers us a chance to explore if greed is part of our lives and how to weed it out.
Join me for Rinse and Repeat today, as we explore Sapphira in Acts 5!

  • Giving that Makes Jesus Marvel: The Widow's Two Mites
Today's episode of Rinse and Repeat begins rather emotionally for me, as I share my experience of having recently seen the Jesus Revolution movie.
This episode is equally important to me because I want to take careful notice of the things that Jesus notices.  For example, He marvels at the great faith of the Roman centurion.  He equally marvels at the lack of faith in people from His hometown, so much so that He could do few miracles among them.
And today, we have a woman whose giving makes Jesus marvel, the widow who gives her two mites.  From her example, we learn that God cares not so much what or how much we give, but HOW we give because God loves a cheerful giver!
Join me as we explore the widow's two mites, on today's edition of Rinse and Repeat!
