For this episode we are joined by film and television producer, Jennifer Healy. Jennifer has worked for Mind the Gap Films since 2008 and her most recent work includes Pass It On, the RTE series which follows the trials and tribulations of LOI Women's Premier Division players from Dublin's Shelbourne FC, Galway United and Peamount United FC. Previously, Jennifer produced Ó Bhéal, a cinematic exploration of the rise of hip hop and electronic artists in Ireland, embracing oral traditions of folklore, ancient poetry and sean-nós singing to create a new fusion sound, a culture clash through music. An ensemble piece, featuring Irish-language rappers Seán ‘Mory’ Ó Muirgheasa and Oisín Mac, producer and multi-instrumentalist Fehdah, and Limerick rapper Strange Boy.
Jennifer’s other recent production credits include:
Vincent Hanley: Sex, Lies & Videotapes about the legendary DJ and presenter, and the AIDS epidemic in Ireland in the 80s.
My Tribe – Mo Threibh; a BAI funded series for RTÉ that reveals the underground worlds of some of music’s most defining youth culture movements – Hip Hop, Indie, Dance & Metal. Series 2 won the 2022 Celtic Media Award for Best Factual Entertainment series. Series 1 aired to critical and public acclaim in 2019 and featured the worlds of Rockabillies, Mods, Skinheads and Punks.
Jennifer’s passion for storytelling shines through in her work, whether she's delving into sports history, music subcultures, or pivotal moments in Irish society and we thoroughly enjoyed her visit to the RIPEcast studio.
