Domestice Violence in the pandemic was double trouble. During Covid-19, domestic violence cases has been on the rise due to the combination of isolation and financial insecurity. In the United States over the stay at home oders, the calls for domestic violence increased 8.1 % on average and nationally increased 20% overall.   Across many studies on domestic violence, though it affects all communities, it was found that women of color were victims of domestic violence at shockingly high rates, as compared to all other demographics. 

The substance and opioid use disorder crisis has affected countless families. Since 1999 our nation has lost over 750,000 American lives from drug overdoses. This crisis has claimed over 81,000 lives just last year, the highest number of overdose deaths  ever recorded in a 12 month period. On August 31, 2021 it will be observed as Overdose Awareness Day, in honor of those lives lost due to this disorder. Don't hate the addict, hate the disease; if you dig deep, you will probably find out there is a root cause for the abuse. 

What do you do when your're at a relationship crossroads? Do you stay for the sake of staying or not wanting to be alone? Or, do you run at the first sign of trouble because of the fear of being unhappy just doesn't work for you? Relationships will come with it's share of challenges but remember that communication is a valuable key to success.

Are your wounds able to be re-opened or are they fully healed? What is state of your trauma?  Is it a scab that is still trying to close from the hurt that was caused or is it a scar that has healed from the devastation of the pain? Ask, where are you in this and be true to yourself.  Speak your truth to power!
