ROAM Outdoors Podcast

Have you ever grouse hunted before? Ever heard or seen a grouse? Did you know that they are fans of Def Leppard?! Me either. However, after this past Saturday, I realized just how badly I want to now. These birds are remarkably gorgeous and live in some of the most beautiful terrains your mind can imagine. I drove up to Thomasville Georgia to attend the Public Grouse Film Tour which is a collaborative effort among Project Upland, RGS, and BHA to highlight the need to conserve a tremendously rich hunting history of the multiple species of Grouse in America. I sat down with Chris Jenkins of the Orianne Society, and Nathan Henderson of Cast and Blast Florida and both belong and direct the Georgia Chapter of BHA to discuss these issues more in-depth. Below are links to all of the organizations mentioned above should you be interested after our ramblings!

Postseason or Preseason scouting, which do you prefer? Walt and Chase sit down to discuss how they prefer to look at deer season, lay out what they have learned in post-season scouting, and share what you can do on both public and private land to help find more deer in the offseason. As a new or experienced hunter, there is likely some tidbit you can take away from this episode and apply to this offseason.

In this episode, we talk with Andy May about how he targets mature whitetail bucks across the country. Andy May is a wildly successful whitetail hunter who it would seem is a mature buck magnet by the way he can find and kill mature whitetails. We begin to pull back the layers of HOW Andy approaches this seemingly impossible task, and we discuss what we all could do to improve our deer hunting abilities. Andy is an incredibly humble man, but you can tell that he is drawing on a vast body of knowledge and has way more to share than an hour allows. Stay tuned, because we plan to have Andy back on the show soon to dive deeper into some of the items we discussed today.

In this episode, Walt tracks down Parker from Southern Ground as he is in Florida hunting whitetails on public land, and they discuss how Parker's hunting trip to Florida has gone so far, how hunting in Florida compares to Alabama, and how to handle hunting in areas that don't have a historically high deer population. This was a blast to record and we were so happy that Parker could carve out time to join us on the podcast. Be sure to subscribe to his podcast Southern Ground Hunting. Like below!
