ROAM Outdoors Podcast

On this episode we talk about a lot of first for Walter. His first saddle kill, first kill while filming, first public land deer, and first deer kill for him being a podcast host. This is a great story about perseverance and hard work finally paying off! If you want to check out the video for this deer check out our youtube channel.  We also have a patreon account for the show and we are giving away two havalon knives this quarter for members.  If you would like to become a patron of the show just visit:

This week Chase and Walt sit down to discuss how the first three weeks of Walt's season have gone, and Chase discusses the huge buck he missed, and the big buck he's killed. I've had to shift strategies to get on deer on Public land, but Chase is batting 3 out of 4 on his target bucks!

What if I told you that it would take you 21 years of time, money, and effort to kill a 158" Whitetail buck ... would you do it? What if I told you that you had to fence off an area to create a food plot that cattle couldn't get to, and plant fruit trees because the property your hunting lacks oak trees? What if I then told you that you'd have to coordinate with adjacent landowners and plant food plots there so that you could become the dominant bedding for the area?

Would you do it?

Chase Bowman did and boy is he happy that he did. In this episode, we break down what he went through over 21 years to create a whitetail haven and the pursuit of a special deer that he had years of encounters with. That's all you need to know about this badass episode. ENJOY!

Well, almost two years later, he returns and we tell the tale of an incredible elk hunt this past September. Byron returns to the show to talk about how he hunts public land whitetails in Ohio and shares a story of a 138" whitetail that he harvested last year. Byron is an excellent deer hunter and videographer and has one of the best, and most difficult, places to do both. Hailing from Ohio, he has the chance to chase some genuine giants, but it doesn't come easy. This is a year-round obsession for the Whitetail Experience crew, and last year it paid off.

When you're hot, you're hot. Chase started the season off hot and now he's glowing red hot!!! This episode is all about the potential Florida Pope & Young buck that Chase shot on a special opportunity hunt on Florida Public land. This story is unreal, and Chase does his best to outline how, and why he believes he killed this beautiful buck. Join me in congratulating him on one helluva buck, and one helluva season thus far!

This week it's all about Indiana! We talk with Ryan Roberts who is the owner of Wildside Outdoor Adventures. Ryan's passion in life is putting hunters on their buck of a lifetime and you can tell that's the case from the way he speaks about it. I honestly couldn't believe it when he told me that he barely hunts anymore and it's because he obsesses over getting people on trophy animals. Ryan is a skilled long-range shooter and we discuss the ethics of long-range shooting, and he shares his favorite story in the woods. Here's a hint, his son is a stone-cold killer. Thanks for coming on the show Ryan! Be sure to go check him out on his website, linked below!

This week we break down Chase's first kill from the saddle! He set a series of first for the podcast and himself. First deer from the saddle. First big buck killed on opening weekend. First big buck killed on the first hunt of the season. First saddle kill for the podcast. Whew, that's a lot of firsts. Chase breaks down how his saddle played a role in the hunt, and honestly saved the hunt entirely, how he overcame a less than ideal shot on the animal, and what his plans are moving forward. If history is any clue, Chase's season is going to be a humdinger of a season and y'all better hold on!
