  • RAS #461 - Month Of Spooky 2020 Special #3
On this special we head back into the archives of old time radio with another horror story. This time from the series The Hermit’s Cave. This episode easily stands among best and most disturbing haunted house stories from the golden age of radio. Car trouble forces a woman, her cold mannered husband, and her brother to spend the night in a deserted house with a macabre past. Again I challenge you to listen to this one with the lights out! The story is titled The House on Lost Man’s Bluff and first aired in June of 1937. • RAS #460 - Cat Stories!
On this time we celebrate the cat. Albert Schweitzer once said that there are two means of refuge from the miseries of life: music and cats. Why is that? What is about a beast that has sharp claws and teeth designed to rip us apart, also manages to calm us? The cats we will talk about on the program will range from the calming to the spooky. Then we will tell a frightening tale of a woman who believes she is becoming a cat. So press that play button and enjoy Cat Stories! Featured Story - The Cat’s Whiskers Our featured story this week is a study in terror. Just how powerful is the human mind when faced with the impossible. Can a human being become a cat? Who can say. This tale comes from the OTR series The Creaking Door. This is the first time we have had an episode from this show and ...well I thought it was pretty good.  It is titled The Cat’s Whiskers and first aired sometime in late 1964. • RAS #459 - Month Of Spooky 2020 Special #2
On this special bonus podcast for the Month Of Spooky 2020. We play one of my favorite stories from old time radio. The House in Cypress Canyon is an episode from the series Suspense. The plot is presented as a story-within-a-story framed by a meeting between detective Sam Spade (played by Howard Duff) and a friend who has discovered a manuscript regarding a mysterious house.  It was written by Robert L. Richards, and directed by William Spier. This episode is consistently cited as one of the most terrifying programs broadcast during radio's golden age. It was originally broadcast December 5, 1946 and despite its popularity it only aired once during the show's run. • RAS #458 - The Shadow People
On we continue the spooky stuff with a ghost themed show. We have four listener stories that only go to show just how many folks stick around after they die. Marrion tells of an old farm hand ghost who still hands out chores. Maurice recalls his childhood with Security-Ghost Harold. Joey sees a spirit that wasn’t invited to the party, and Samantha encounters The Lady Of Light. Then we have a classic radio story about The Shadow People and we end this ghostly affair with the Bones Of Waterloo. So sit back and enjoy with more spooky stories for the month of spooky 2020.  Featured Story - The Shadow People Our featured story comes from the OTR series The Hall Of Fantasy. To call it creepy and disturbing does not do it justice. Dark spirits live in the shadows and whisper. Their goal is to kill you. Try listening to this late at night with all the lights out. I’ll bet you will be turning them back on before it ends. The story is called The Shadow People and it first aired on September 5th, 1952. • RAS #453 - Strange Encounters
This time on we travel to Kentucky for an encounter with a ghost girl in an abandoned air-raid bunker. Then we return to the Adolphus Hotel in Dallas Texas for another encounter with the jilted bride. How about Robin’s encounter with bigfoot on Vancouver Island. Do you see a pattern here? You should, the theme for the show is Strange Encounters. But we don’t stop there, we also have a classic story from the pen of Kurt Vonnegut and we end the show with a story from WWI about General George Patton. Featured Story - 2Br02b Our featured story this week comes from the creative mind of Kurt Vonnegut Jr. The story we will hear was suggested by listener Warren Silva. He thought it had a lot to say about our times and where we are going. I am not so sure about that, but I will say it is quite unique. It is titled 2Br02b and was first published in If Magazine in the January 1962 edition. Links From The Show: To view the bigfoot print that Robin shared with us from the story The Encounter At Blackberry Bush . To view the photo of the tribute to General George Patton .
