Today on the podcast is one of the kindest souls alive, Austen Dalquist!
Austen is a professional runner for Roots Running based in Boulder, Colorado. He holds PRs of 1:51.22 (800m), 3:37.52 (1500m), 3:57.18 (Mile), and 13:50.87 (5k).
As a senior, he achieved the prestigious title of First Team All-American in the DMR (Distance Medley Relay) category. During his college years, Austen competed in various indoor and outdoor meets, consistently delivering strong performances. He set personal best times in events like the 5,000-meters and 10,000-meters, earning him placements at championship events like the SEC Outdoor Championships and NCAA West Regional. Austen's dedication and skills were evident throughout his college career, where he contributed valuable points to his team and consistently improved his performance. Prior to college, Austen demonstrated exceptional talent in high school, excelling in cross country and track events, holding multiple school records.
In this episode, Austen goes through his story, including being too invested in running, having an eating-disorder, and thriving as a professional. We also go through mindsets around the sport, and how that's changed overtime for Austen, as well as "The Tour" and much more. Today's conversation was very meaningful to me; Austen is so full of wisdom and perspective. I hope you will all learn from him as much as I did!
