In this week's episode, Kylie’s at the hub and Justine on the “dread mill”, I mean Treadmill! They begin by discussing their experiences and insights related to running clubs and hobby-based social groups like book clubs. They explore the benefits of consistency and engagement as a hallmark of successful clubs - discussing that the clubs/hobbies often serve a more important social function. The conversation touches upon personal running habits and a creative idea for a Taylor Swift-themed half marathon. They even talk about food pairing for the event!

Join Ari Fleman, host of the "Rucking Around" podcast, as he introduces the concept of rucking, which involves carrying "heavy stuff" in a pack while walking around. He shares details about a challenging workout he's undertaking: a one-mile ruck with 35 pounds, followed by 100 burpees. He also offers advice on starting weights for rucking, discusses his personal reading habits and recommends specific audiobooks and thrillers, and reveals his training for an upcoming duathlon that omits the swimming component of a triathlon.

This week, the Sole Sisters talk about Kylie's Deer Run walking pad (which she got for "a couple hundos" and can crank up to 6 miles per hour!). Justine shared how she uses her walking pad to stay active, telling herself she can't watch a new episode of a show like Bridgerton unless she's walking. We talk about how walking is "super good for you" and can burn just as many calories as running depending on time spent, embracing the "slow and steady" approach over intense, constantly-go-go workouts.
We also dive into the reality that progress isn't linear in your running journey – you can have amazing runs one day and terrible ones the next, but the key is not to give up. Justine shares a hilarious (and slightly terrifying!) running horror story about how listening to Crime Junkie while running made her PR her 5K time because she was so "amped up" and literally "running scared". You'll have to listen to hear why she was mad at Zeke!.

Running Scared Media is proud to present our first episode of Running Buddies where we interview runners from around the world while they train on the trail. Running with us today is Ultra Marathoner Ria Xi who joins us from Porto, Portugal. Ria set an FKT for running across Italy, she ran Egypt's Sinai Desert, and is now training for a run across Western Europe and Eastern Russia. Ria talks about how running helped her learn self confidence, eating copious amounts of gelato and pasta and how running new places around the Earth gives her a greater sense of presence and understanding.

“If I had to describe Badwater 135 in one word, it would be: Inferno.” - Mike Wardian
Ultra-marathon legend Mike Wardian, a 4-time USATF Ultra Runner of the Year, has shattered records and pushed boundaries across the globe. But nothing compares to the brutal challenge of the Badwater 135—a grueling 135-mile race through Death Valley, where temperatures soar to 130°F, starting at the lowest point in the U.S. and climbing to over 8,000 feet.
Inferno is an immersive docudrama that plunges you into Mike's punishing journey as he battles searing heat and relentless fatigue, while his crew fights to keep him on his feet. Part true story, part dramatized experience, this Running Scared jogcast captures every intense moment of the race.

In a near future, inmates and old friends, Booker Reed (Son of Sonnet) and Mac Rossi (Tristan Snyder), work hard labour in an underwater mining prison called the Belly. Mac is in for stealing oxygen credits and Booker for being too loyal to Mac. He could have turned on Mac but instead he shared the wrap and lost good years with his wife and kids. After hearing a mysterious and intermittent sound, Mac witnesses Booker and everyone else in the prison transform into mindless violent murderers. Pushing his bum heart to the limit, Mac tries to escape the belly of madness with his best friend. With Booker’s experience as an engineer, they might just make it out. Unless he tears Mac apart along the way. An immersive audio-horror, this Running Scared Jogcast will motivate and entertain you on your next jog! Best experienced with headphones on a long run.
