Editing work continues on the companion Apocrypha/Deuterocanon books, mostly in the form of slight updates to language and punctuation. In the companion Apocrypha/Deuterocanon of the World English Bible, Tobit, Judith, Esther (Greek), Psalm 151, Daniel (Greek), and Wisdom are essentially done. The rest of the Apocrypha/Deuterocanon/Pseudepigrapha books are an automated update of those books from the Revised Version or copied from the LXX2012: Septuagint in English 2012, depending on the book. These should be at least as accurate as the source translations, but not as polished in modern English usage as the rest of the World English Bible. New updates will be posted on http://eBible.org/web/ and at http://WorldEnglishBible.org.

In these verses from 1 Corinthians 11, Paul gives some guidelines for the proper attitude of communing at the Lord's table. We talk about the wrong translation from the KJV that's somewhat persisted today, as well as the one of the more stern punishments from God upon unrepentant communing.  Hint: There might be something more stern than immediate death.

In the second (of three) readings on 1 Corinthians 11, Paul describes the character of the Lord's Supper: a fellowship meal, in which communicants eat & drink the body & blood of Jesus together with the bread and wine.  On this Independence Day, we celebrate the freedom which Christ has won for us.  The recording concludes with "Salvation Unto Us Has Come" by Koine.

In the first part of 1 Corinthians 11, Paul addresses the question of how one presents oneself in society & church.  As Christians, we seek to bring glory to God in every time & place by living in line with the Lord's specific creation.  The way we present ourselves (even through cultural adiaphora, such as hair style or clothing style) can either reinforce or deny this special creation by our God.

Paul discusses the proper use of Christian freedom - which also means that we don't have the freedom to sin, but only the freedom to bring glory to God in the choices we make.  Some of those choices may mean the non-exercise of our freedom out of love for others.
