  • RYM 2016 MSFL Ben Griffith Day 3

    “Idolators Anonymous”
    Teacher: Ben Griffith

We are all idolators. You may not worship a little statue on your bookshelf every night (if you do, we need to talk), but chances are there's a goal, a person, a desire, or something else that has taken on god-like proportions in your life. Idols are good things or bad things that we turn into ultimate things; they're "counterfeit gods." We're very good at making them, and they're very good at ruining us. A Christian writer once said, "the secret to change is to identify and dismantle the counterfeit gods of your heart." Join 15 us as we discover how true this is, and how the Gospel is good news for idolators.

  • RYM 2016 HSCO Scott Lowe Day 2
“HELP WANTED! HELP AVAILABLE – The Spirit”
    Teacher: Scott Lowe

If you are like me, there are so many times I think … HELP!
When Jesus told his disciples that he was not always going to
be with them - they freaked out. But then Jesus told the
disciples that he was not leaving them without the Holy Spirit.
The 3rd person of the Trinity! The Spirit is a gift. He is a gift for
believers. He is one who convicts, convinces and comforts our
hearts! How are you struggling? Do you feel like a wreck? Do
you feel alone? Do you struggle with your relationships? Do you
struggle with the Christian life? In this class we will study the gift
of the Holy Spirit to our lives! We don’t have to go get Him, we
have been given him when we became Christians! Join me as
    we consider the Holy Spirit.

  • RYM 2016 HSCO Michael Hall Day 3

    “Introduction to Spiritual Formation”
    Teacher: Michael Hall

What is spiritual formation? Spiritual formation is the work of God’s Holy Spirit in the lives of His people growing them into the image and character of the Lord Jesus. He does that by transforming us completely: by renewing our minds, reordering our loves, our instincts, our values, our habits – by reorganizing and reordering our entire life. Growth into the image of Jesus Christ is a process, and it is a gift from the Spirit of God at work in us. Yet we are not passive in this process, we are to cooperate with the Spirit. We have been given several means of grace—things we can do that the Spirit frequently uses to help us to mature and to deepen our faith and strengthen our walk with Jesus. If you’ve ever struggled with what your role is and what role God takes in your growth as a Christian this seminar will comfort and challenge you to rest in the finished work of Jesus and the ongoing work of Holy Spirit from day to day.

  • RYM 2016 HSCO Bryan Villarreal Day 2

    “The Invitations of Jesus”
    Teacher: Bryan Villarreal

What will following Jesus cost you? Will it cost you friends, reputation, and “likes”? Of course it could, but Jesus wouldn’t offer you something different if it wouldn’t satisfy that for which you really long. Jesus invites us out of uncertainty and into the truth, out of anxiety and into joy, out of isolation and into community and purpose. He invites us to give up the tireless pursuit of image, approval, and the perfect experience so that we can find the life and the purpose for which He made us…a life and purpose that are completely contrary to our culture, yet are more life-renewing than anything the world is offering. Come join us as we explore the liberating invitations of Jesus.

  • RYM 2016 HSCO Billy Meehan Day 3

“10 Ways To Survive A Zombie Apocalypse”
    Teacher: Billy Meenan

Sorry, this class isn't about actual zombies, but it is about survival! We live in a society that wants to devour our brains. Everywhere you look there is something or someone trying to convince you to think and believe a certain way. Sometimes it is difficult to hear the truth when it is being drowned out by all the mindless noise. God knew that this is the world we would live in and he hasn't left us to fend for ourselves. In the Old Testament God gave his people his 10 Commandments. They were so important that He wrote them on stone tablets with his very own 13 finger (Exodus 31:18)! But, that was the Old Testament, right? Since Jesus lived the perfect life for us, do they even matter anymore? They absolutely matter, and there is a lot more to them than meets the eye! This class will be very conversational and though provoking as we explore how the 10 Commandments can answer every ethical and moral dilemma about things like politics, abortion, marriage, gossip, and much more. Don't become a mindless zombie. Come be a part of a real conversation as we try to figure out what's actually going on in this world!
